Successful treatment of granulomatosis with polyangiitis using tocilizumab combined with glucocorticoids: A case report.

Background: Tocilizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody against the interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptor that is commonly used to treat large vessel vasculitis and antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-related small vessel vasculitis. However, tocilizumab in combination with glucocorticoids for successfully treating granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) has rarely been reported.

Case Summary: Here, we report a 40-year-old male patient who suffered GPA for 4 years.

Relationship between Atrial Tachyarrhythmias and Intrathoracic Impedance in Patients with a Pacemaker and Preserved Ejection Fraction.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is responsible for significant morbidity and mortality in patients with heart failure (HF). Modern pacemakers provide an index of intrathoracic fluid status (OptiVol fluid index-OVFI) by measuring daily intrathoracic impedance. This study aimed to determine whether OVFI is associated with increased atrial tachycardia/fibrillation (AT/AF) events in patients with a preserved ejection fraction (EF).

[Progress of heterotrophic studies on symbiotic corals].

Heterotrophy of zooxanthellae symbiotic corals refers to the nutrition directly coming from food absorption, not the nutrition obtained from photosynthesis. Most ex situ propagation of symbiotic corals focused on the effects of irradiation, flow rate and water quality on corals, few of them involved in the demand and supply of coral heterotrophic nutrition. This paper reviewed the significance of heterotrophic nutrient supply to symbiotic corals from the sources of coral heterotrophic nutrition, the factors affecting the supply of coral heterotrophic nutrient, and the methods of how to study the coral heterotrophy.

[Research progress on techniques for artificial propagation of corals].

The natural coral reef resources degrade rapidly because of climate change, environmental pollution and exploitation of aquarium species. Artificial propagation is an effective way to facilitate the reduction of wild harvesting, reef restoration, preservation of biodiversity. This paper reviewed the technique and research progresses focused on coral artificial propagation.
