However, the mechanism by which SQSTM1/p62 contributes to breast cancer progression and tumor microenvironment remains unclear. This study revealed that silencing expression suppressed breast cancer progression via regulating cell proliferation and reshaping the tumor microenvironment (TME).

Background: Eosinophil levels predict prognosis in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients. Both eosinophils and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) play a major role in the acute inflammatory response of myocardial infarction. Although dendritic cells (DCs) have been widely demonstrated to play essential roles in initiation of Th2 responses in helminth infections and allergic reactions, the mechanisms remain uncertain largely because DCs do not produce IL-4. In present investigation, we have uncovered a novel subset of DCs from mice infected with Th2-provoking pathogens Schistosoma japonica, which independently promoted Th2 cells via IL-4-dependent pathway. These DCs contained similar levels of IL-4 mRNA and higher levels of IL-12p40 mRNA comparing to basophils, correlating to their Th2-promoting and Th1-promoting dual polarization capacities.

Multidrug resistant (MDR) pathogen infections are serious threats to hospitalized patients because of the limited therapeutic options. A novel group of antibiotic candidates, antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), have recently shown powerful activities against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Unfortunately, the viability of using these AMPs in clinical settings remains to be seen, since most still need to be evaluated prior to clinical trials and not all of AMPs are potent against MDR clinical isolates.
