Both uncontrolled Li dendrite growth and corrosion are major obstacles to the practical application of Li-metal batteries. Despite numerous attempts to address these challenges, effective solutions for dendrite-free reversible Li electrodeposition have remained elusive. Here, we demonstrate the horizontal Li electrodeposition on top of atomically polarized monolayer hexagonal boron nitride (hBN).

Objective: ATR kinase inhibitors promote cell killing by inducing replication stress and through potentiation of genotoxic agents in gynecologic cancer cells. To explore mechanisms of acquired resistance to ATRi in ovarian cancer, we characterized ATRi-resistant ovarian cancer cells generated by metronomic dosing with the clinical ATR inhibitor AZD6738.

Methods: ATRi-resistant ovarian cancer cells (OVCAR3 and OV90) were generated by dosing with AZD6738 and assessed for sensitivity to Chk1i (LY2603618), PARPi (Olaparib) and combination with cisplatin or a CDK4/6 inhibitor (Palbociclib).

Endometrial cancer (EC) is a common and deadly cancer in women and novel therapeutic approaches are urgently needed. Polyamines (putrescine, spermidine, spermine) are critical for mammalian cell proliferation and MYC coordinately regulates polyamine metabolism through ornithine decarboxylase (ODC). ODC is a MYC target gene and rate-limiting enzyme of polyamine biosynthesis and the FDA-approved anti-protozoan drug α-difluoromethylornithine (DFMO) inhibits ODC activity and induces polyamine depletion that leads to tumour growth arrest.

Staged Chest Wall Reconstruction for Radiation-induced Costochondritis.

Spontaneous Bacterial Peritonitis in an Adult Patient with Minimal Change Disease.

BACKGROUND Pediatric patients with nephrotic syndrome have a high risk of developing spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP). However, SBP in adults with nephrotic syndrome is very rare. We report a case of SBP induced by Escherichia coli in a 60-year-old male patient on immunosuppressive therapy for the treatment of minimal change disease (MCD).

Monolithically integrated hybrid tandem solar cells (TSCs) that combine solution-processed colloidal quantum dot (CQD) and organic molecules are a promising device architecture, able to complement the absorption across the visible to the infrared. However, the performance of organic/CQD hybrid TSCs has not yet surpassed that of single-junction CQD solar cells. Here, a strategic optical structure is devised to overcome the prior performance limit of hybrid TSCs by employing a multibuffer layer and a dual near-infrared (NIR) absorber.

From surface tensiometric data, the critical micelle concentration of the dispersant was obtained to be 0.017 g/cc.

Anti-Respiratory Syncytial Virus Activity of and Extracts In Vitro and In Vivo.

The herbs and have been commonly used for centuries in indigenous and folk medicine in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. In this study, we show that extracts from these herbs have antiviral effects against the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in vitro cell cultures and an in vivo mouse model. Treatment of HEp2 cells and A549 cells with a non-cytotoxic concentration of or extract significantly reduced RSV replication, RSV-induced cell death, RSV gene transcription, RSV protein synthesis, and also blocked syncytia formation.

Rhinogenic Headache: Standardization of Terminologies Used for Headaches Arising From Problems in the Nose and Nasal Cavity.

Objective: The use of different expressions between physicians frequently results in confusion in the process of diagnosis and treatment of patients with headaches due to problems in the nose and nasal cavity. The aim of this study was to assess the terminologies that have been used most frequently to standardize these terminologies.

Methods: Terminologies that are most frequently used in general, including rhinogenic migraine, sinus headache, rhinogenic contact point headache, middle turbinate headache syndrome, and rhinogenic headache, were found by searching PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar.

Background: Minimizing scarring has long been a challenge in plastic surgery. Factors affecting scar formation are well known, but the effect of some patient-specific factors such as dermal thickness remains unverified. Ornithine decarboxylase as a therapeutic target for endometrial cancer.

Ornithine Decarboxylase (ODC) a key enzyme in polyamine biosynthesis is often overexpressed in cancers and contributes to polyamine-induced cell proliferation. We noted ubiquitous expression of ODC1 in our published endometrial cancer gene array data and confirmed this in the cancer genome atlas (TCGA) with highest expression in non-endometrioid, high grade, and copy number high cancers, which have the worst clinical outcomes. ODC1 expression was associated with worse overall survival and increased recurrence in three endometrial cancer gene expression datasets.

Although Coptidis Rhizoma is commonly used for its many therapeutic effects, antiviral activity against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) has not been reported in detail. In this study, we evaluated the antiviral activities of Coptidis Rhizoma extract (CRE) against RSV in human respiratory tract cell line (HEp2) and BALB/c mice.
