Article Synopsis
  • * Analysis of 168 LSCC cases revealed that VM is linked to higher rates of lymph node metastasis and worse clinical outcomes.
  • * VM serves as an independent adverse prognostic factor, indicating that LSCC with VM has a greater likelihood of invasion and negatively affects disease-specific survival.

Objective: To investigate the contribution of vasculogenic mimicry (VM) and endothelium-dependent vessel (EDV) to invasion and metastasis of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC).

Methods: A total of 203 cases with LSCC was reviewed and followed up. VM and EDV in LSCC tissues were assessed by double staining with anti-CD31 immunohistochemistry and periodic acid-schiff.

Objective: To analyze the characteristics of subjective visual horizontal (SVH) and evaluate its clinical value for vestibular function in peripheral unilateral vestibular hypofunction (UVH).

Methods: Eighty-five patients with UVH (study group) and 39 normal persons (control group) accepted vestibular function tests, including SVH, subjective visual vertical (SVV) and caloric test by video-nystagmography. The parameters of the angle of SVH and SVV, directional preponderance (DP) and unilateral weakness (UW) of caloric test were observed.

Objective: To analyze the value of directional preponderance (DP) in vestibular dynamic compensation evaluation.

Methods: One hundred fifty-five patients with sudden deafness accompanied vertigo were asked to accept routine vestibular tests including the spontaneous nystagmus (SN) and caloric test with video-nystagmography. DP, SN and unilateral weakness (UW) were selected as the observation parameters.

Objective: To explore the diagnostic values of vestibular autorotation test (VAT) for patients with vertebrobasilar insufficiency (VBI).

Methods: VAT and videonystagmography ( VNG) were performed on 73 patients with VBI and 48 patients with peripheral vestibular lesions (contrast group). Parameters analyzed included Gain, phase and asymmetry of VAT, as well as the canal paresis (CP) of caloric test and results of optokinetic-pursuit tests in VNG.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between susceptibility and prognosis of laryngeal cancer and genetic polymorphisms in CYP1A1 GSTM1.

Methods: The genetic polymorphisms of CYP1A1 exon-7 and GSTM1 were analyzed by polymorphism-polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique in peripheral blood leukocytes of 89 laryngeal cancer cases and 164 non-cancer controls.

Results: Either in the frequency of CYP1A1 (W, MW, M) and GSTM1 negative individual of laryngeal cancer were significantly higher than that in the controls(P < 0.
