In order to explore the physiological responses of root system of different drought-resistant cotton varieties to drought and their relationships with biomass, we examined the effects of drought stress on root vigor, antioxidant enzyme activities and anatomic structure (duct diameter, number) and biomass of different drought-tolerant varieties, including the drought-inolerant variety 'Xinluzao 17' (L17) and the drought-tolerant variety 'Xinluzao 22' (L22). Both varieties were grown under soil column cultivation conditions, with conventional irrigation (CK), mild drought (W) and moderate drought (W) treatments. The results showed that drought stress caused significant reductions in soluble protein (SP) content, root vigor (RV), the number of cork layers, the number of rhizome ducts, the diameter of the ducts in both varieties.

With the increase of drought stress at different growth stages, the ABA contents of cotton roots and leaves increased, while the ZRs contents of cotton roots and leaves and the gsand photosynthetic rate (Pn) of cotton leaves decreased, with greater decrements in the treatment of soil moisture content being 40% -45% of field capacity at early flowering-full flowering stage. After re-watering, the ABA contents of cotton roots and leaves d:d not have a decrease with the improvement of soil moisture regime, while the ZRs contents of cotton roots recovered rapidly or exceeded the control after 1-3 days of re-watering.

Objective: To discuss the diagnosis, surgical indication, endoscopic fenestration procedures, and prognosis of symptomatic septum pellucidum cyst.
Method: Ten patients with symptomatic septum pellucidum cyst showing clinical symptoms of elevated intracranial pressure and epilepsy with the maximal cyst width ranging from 12 to 35 mm underwent endoscopic cystoventriculostomy.
Results: During the follow-up period, 8 patients were symptom-free, one had significant improvement of the symptoms, but one failed to respond to the treatment.
