Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigated the incidence and outcomes of Sepsis-3 in Yuetan sub-district, Beijing, aiming to estimate the disease burden in China, as data from middle-income countries are limited post the introduction of Sepsis-3.
  • - From July 2012 to June 2014, researchers reviewed medical records and found that of 21,191 hospitalized patients, 935 had Sepsis-3, leading to an annual incidence rate of 363 cases per 100,000 people.
  • - The study concluded that Sepsis-3 has a high case fatality rate of 32.0%, with males, the elderly, and those with more health issues being at higher risk; it estimated around 700

Objective: To investigate the role of pH2AX in the reversibility of mouse testicular reproductive function impaired by single heat stress.

Methods: Twenty-four C57 male mice were randomly divided into heat stress and control groups and immersed in water at 43℃ and 25℃, respectively, for 15 minutes. At 1, 7, and 14 days of heat exposure, all the mice were sacrificed and their testis tissues collected for determining the apoptosis of the germ cells by TUNEL and measuring the expression level of the pH2AX protein by immunohistochemistry and Western blot.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to explore how a single heat stress treatment affects spermatogenic cells in male mice by comparing a control group with a heat stress group.
  • After exposing mice to high temperatures, significant changes were observed in the testicular organ index and morphology, particularly in the arrangement and quantity of spermatogenic cells over 1, 7, and 14 days.
  • The results indicated that while heat stress initially leads to reduced spermatogenic cell numbers and impaired PLZF expression, the spermatogenic cells begin to recover after 14 days, suggesting potential for recovery from heat-induced damage.
