Article Synopsis
  • Researchers have developed a new method to create polyester nanocomposites by synthesizing calcium borate nanoparticles while simultaneously polymerizing polyethylene terephthalate (PET), eliminating the need for organic solvents.
  • * This innovative approach allows for the incorporation of very low amounts (0.1 wt%) of nanoparticles with strong bonding, leading to improved dielectric properties and breakdown strength in the resulting materials.
  • * The PET-based nanocomposites achieve high energy storage capabilities, with a maximum discharged energy density of 15 J/cm³, making it a promising and environmentally friendly alternative to existing dielectric polymers for scalable production.

Tantalum tungsten bronze(TaxWO3)nanowires were successfully synthesized via hydrothermal method using TaCl5 and Na2WO4 . 2H20 as raw materials. The morphology, crystal structure and optical properties of synthesized products were characterized by means of XRD, TEM, SEM, UV-Vis and Raman technologies.

Article Synopsis
  • The band offsets of non-polar A-plane GaN/AlN and AlN/GaN heterojunctions were measured using X-ray photoemission spectroscopy.
  • A significant asymmetry was found between the forward and backward band offsets in these heterojunctions.
  • The valence-band offsets were determined to be 1.33 ± 0.16 eV for GaN/AlN and 0.73 ± 0.16 eV for AlN/GaN, with a notable 0.6 eV difference attributed to piezoelectric strain effects in the non-polar layers.
