Measles outbreaks in the Kyeongin area of the Republic of Korea, 2013-2014: A single-center experience in a country of measles elimination.

Objective: To identify the source of infection and determine the clinical features and laboratory finding of measles infection.

Methods: In 27 measles patients, except for 3 adult patients, the rest of 24 pediatric measles cases were analyzed with regard to age, sex, immunization status, transmission routes and molecular genotyping of measles virus. Eighteen measles patients who admitted in isolation ward were set apart to investigate clinical findings and its correlation with laboratory characteristics.

Risk Factors Predicting Nasoseptal Flap Failure in the Endoscopic Endonasal Transsphenoidal Approach.

Objective: Reconstruction of the skull base using a pedicled nasoseptal flap (NSF) seems to be advantageous after the endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal approach (EETSA). A few reports have evaluated the cause of flap failure in EETSA using NSFs. The aim of this study was to evaluate the perioperative risk factors for NSF failure.

[Preliminary investigation of breeding status in ground dust flour in Qiqihaer City].

Objective: To investigate the breeding status in the ground dust flour collected in Qiqihaer City.

Methods: Totally, 16 aliquots of ground dust flour were respectively collected from a college canteen and 15 households in Qiqihaer City. Then 10 g dust flour was taken from individual sample for isolation of the mites that were made of slide specimen, and the mites were identified and classified under a microscope.

Efficacy and safety of everolimus and sunitinib in patients with gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumor.

Purpose: Efficacy of targeted agents, such as everolimus and sunitinib, has been demonstrated in prospective trials on patients with gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs). Considering the heterogeneous clinicopathological characteristics of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), evaluation of treatment outcomes in a real-world setting is necessary.

Methods: Clinical records of 44 patients with GEP-NET who were treated with everolimus or sunitinib between March 2007 and October 2014 were retrospectively reviewed.

The Phonetic Characteristics in Patients of Bilateral Vocal Fold Paralysis Without Tracheotomy.

Objectives: Patients with bilateral vocal fold paralysis (BVFP) theoretically have difficulty producing voiceless consonants. However, perceptual studies have revealed clear production of voiceless consonants with good articulation scores in nontracheostomized patients. The purpose of this study was to clarify the production of voiceless stops during articulation in patients with BVFP compared to normal speakers.

However, aPAs that exhibit all of these features are rare and the predictive value for recurrence in pituitary adenomas (PAs) remains uncertain. Only a few recent case reports have suggested lymph node metastasis from intramucosal CRC, but there is no clear evidence supporting the metastatic potential of intramucosal CRC. Hence, endoscopic resection is regarded as curative treatment for intramucosal CRC.

Phase 1 Study of Preoperative Chemoradiation Therapy With Temozolomide and Capecitabine in Patients With Locally Advanced Rectal Cancer.

Purpose: Preoperative chemoradiation therapy (CRT) with capecitabine is a standard treatment strategy in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). Temozolomide improves the survival of patients with glioblastoma with hypermethylated O(6)-methylguanine DNA methyltransferase (MGMT); MGMT hypermethylation is one of the colorectal carcinogenesis pathways. Methods: Two observation places were selected in the urban area of Wuhu City, and the survey period of the first observation place (A) was from 2014-5-4 to 2014-11-2, and eucleid caterpillar was observed and collected every Sunday (a total of 27 times); the survey period of the second observation place (B) was from 2014-1-5 to 2014-12-28, and eucleid caterpillar was observed and collected every Sunday (a total of 52 times). The eucleid caterpillars were collected by the visual inspection and artificial direct collecting method, and then they were identified and classified by the naked eye direct observation and the direct observation with the help of the anatomical lens in the laboratory.

Endovascular treatment of posterior inferior cerebellar artery aneurysms: a 7-year single-center experience.

Aim: To report our experience with endovascular treatment of posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) aneurysms.

Methods: Between January 2007 and December 2014, 40 patients with 42 PICA aneurysms were treated with endovascular embolization at our institution. Twenty-eight patients had 29 saccular aneurysms and 12 patients had 13 fusiform/dissecting aneurysms.

The earthworm fauna of the Korean peninsula, especially the Northern part (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) is still poorly known. Altogether 148 earthworm taxa are reported from Korea of which 22, including some uncertain records, belong to the Holarctic family Lumbricidae.
