The effectiveness of high-carbohydrate diets (HCD) on cognitive impairment is still being debated. To clarify the impact of HCD on the cognitive behavior of mice under low-pressure hypoxic conditions, we studied 24 mice in different environments while subjecting them to dietary intervention for 5 weeks, and conducting behavioral tests. Under low-pressure hypoxic conditions, HCD intervention reversed the decline in spatial learning and memory abilities in mice caused by hypoxia, ameliorated pathological brain damage, and restored the integrity of the intestinal mucosa.

Currently, there is a lack of reports in the literature on adult-onset cases. This case report describes a 51-year-old male with adult-onset HSH, presenting with limb weakness, muscle spasms, and electrolyte imbalances, including severe hypomagnesemia (0.

Zinc Oxide Quantum dots (ZnO-QDs) show good antibacterial activity, but most of them are insoluble in water, limiting their application range, and there is a lack of research on drug resistance inducement.
Methods: The water-soluble zinc oxide quantum dots modified by APTES (ZnO@APTES QDs) were prepared by a microwave assisted synthesis.
Aim: To investigate the influence of postoperative intraocular lens (IOL) positions on the accuracy of cataract surgery and examine the predictive factors of postoperative biometry prediction errors using the Barrett Universal II (BUII) IOL formula for calculation.
Methods: The prospective study included patients who had undergone cataract surgery performed by a single surgeon from June 2020 to April 2022. The collected data included the best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), corneal curvature, preoperative and postoperative central anterior chamber depths (ACD), axial length (AXL), IOL power, and refractive error.
Hair cell (HC) loss, frequently induced by ototoxic agents such as gentamicin, leads to irreversible hearing loss. Because of the restricted regenerative capabilities of the mammalian inner ear, the exploration of therapeutic strategies to restore damaged HCs is critically needed. Recombinant human Neuritin (rhNeuritin), a neurotrophic factor with established roles in promoting cell survival and regeneration across various systems, presents itself as a promising therapeutic candidate for HC repair.

How components of LNP affect its intracellular trafficking and delivery efficiency remains unknown. Here, we developed a highly sensitive LNP/nucleic acid tracking platform based on streptavidin-biotin-DNA complex and high throughput imaging.

However, Kras mutation alone is insufficient to transform precancerous cells into metastatic PDAC. This study investigates how KRAS-mutated epithelial cells acquire the capacity to escape senescence or even immune clearance, thereby progressing to advanced PDAC.

The aim of this study was to answer this question.
Methods: Children with CAP in three tertiary hospitals (hospitals A, B and C) from 2018 to 2023 were selected.
Glioblastoma (GBM) infiltrates the brain and can be synaptically innervated by neurons, which drives tumor progression. Synaptic inputs onto GBM cells identified so far are largely short-range and glutamatergic. The extent of GBM integration into the brain-wide neuronal circuitry remains unclear.

We synthesized an unnatural tyrosine-conjugated carboxybetaine (Tyr-CB) that undergoes melanin-like oxidation upon treatment with tyrosinase under various aqueous conditions. The thickness of the resulting poly(Tyr-CB) film was tuned by adjusting the pH during the coating process.

We analyzed the association between BMI and all-cause mortality, stratified by age, in patients undergoing HD using data from the Korean Renal Data System (KORDS). We analyzed 66,129 HD patients from the 2023 KORDS database, with data collected between 2001 and 2022.

Simultaneously visualizing Fe and intracellular viscosity is essential for understanding the detailed pathophysiological processes of HCC. Herein, we report the first dual-responsive probe, , capable of simultaneously monitoring Fe and viscosity.

South Korea is witnessing a notable increase in obesity rates among children and adolescents, despite various governmental interventions. Parents play a crucial role in preventing and managing pediatric obesity, as they are typically the primary observers of their child's weight and daily habits.

The clinical manifestations of CIRI are often accompanied by gastrointestinal symptoms such as intestinal bacterial dysbiosis and gastrointestinal bleeding. Gut microbiota plays an important role in the pathogenesis of CIRI, and its potential biological effects have received extensive attention.

Materials And Methods: Patients with mCRC who underwent next-generation sequencing using a targeted 244-gene panel from 2016 to 2021 were identified and screened for EGFR copy numbers. Cases with at least 5 copies were reviewed for tumor purity adjustment, and those with an adjusted copy number of ≥6 were defined as EGFR-amplified (EGFR amp+).
KRAS mutations are instrumental in the development and progression of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Nevertheless, the efficacy of direct targeting of KRAS mutations to inhibit tumor development remains doubtful. It is therefore necessary to gain a deeper insight into the mechanism in which KRAS mutations influence the effectiveness of clinical treatments.

Methods: This study investigates the role of kinesin family member 11 (KIF11) in HCC under HIFP conditions, using both in vivo and in vitro models.
Objective: We compared the protein structure and pathogenicity of clinically relevant variants of the gene with AlphaFold2 (AF2), Alpha Missense (AM), and ThermoMPNN for the first time.

Blood-contacting medical devices, especially extracorporeal membrane oxygenators (ECMOs), are highly susceptible to surface-induced coagulation because of their extensive surface area. This can compromise device functionality and lead to life-threatening complications. High doses of anticoagulants, combined with anti-thrombogenic surface coatings, are typically employed to mitigate this risk, but such treatment can lead to hemorrhagic complications.

Winter barley (Hordeum vulgare) production areas in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River are severely threatened by barley yellow mosaic disease, which is caused by Barley yellow mosaic virus and Barley mild mosaic virus. Improving barley disease resistance in breeding programs requires knowledge of genetic loci in germplasm resources. In this study, bulked segregant analysis (BSA) identified a novel major quantitative trait loci (QTL) QRym.

Despite advancements in novel antimicrobial agents, many fail to comprehensively cover common resistant bacterial strains or undergo rigorous multi-center validation. Herein, a cationic AIE-active photosensitizers are developed, ITPM, derived from a triphenylamine-pyridine backbone to address the MDR challenge.
