This report summarizes the 10th biennial meeting of The Epithelial Mesenchymal Transition International Association (TEMTIA), that took place in Paris on November 7-10, 2022. It provides a short but comprehensive introduction to the presentations and discussions that took place during the 3-day meeting. Similarly to previous TEMTIA meetings, TEMTIA X reviewed the most recent aspects of the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), a cellular process involved during distinct stages of development but also during wound healing and fibrosis to some degree.

This study aims to assess the safety and effectiveness of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) in the context of RIAs.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis at a single center, involving patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) between May 1, 2017 and December 31, 2021.
Aims: Evidence is accumulating of the therapeutic benefits of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) in diabetes-related conditions. We have identified a novel population of stromal cells within islets of Langerhans - islet stellate cells (ISCs) - which have a similar morphology to MSCs. In this study we characterize mouse ISCs and compare their morphology and function to MSCs to determine whether ISCs may also have therapeutic potential in diabetes.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA search for events with a dark photon produced in association with a dark Higgs boson via rare decays of the standard model Z boson is presented, using 139 fb^{-1} of sqrt[s]=13 TeV proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The dark boson decays into a pair of dark photons, and at least two of the three dark photons must each decay into a pair of electrons or muons, resulting in at least two same-flavor opposite-charge lepton pairs in the final state. The data are found to be consistent with the background prediction, and upper limits are set on the dark photon's coupling to the dark Higgs boson times the kinetic mixing between the standard model photon and the dark photon, α_{D}ϵ^{2}, in the dark photon mass range of [5, 40] GeV except for the ϒ mass window [8.

Methods: It enrolled 148 patients who underwent surgical aortic valve replacement with the Cingular bovine pericardial aortic valve between March 2016 and October 2017 in 5 clinical centres in China.
Property optimization through orientation control of metal-organic framework (MOF) crystals that exhibit anisotropic crystal structures continues to garner tremendous interest. Herein, an electric field is utilized to post-synthetically control the orientation of conductive layered Cu(HHTP) (HHTP = 2,3,6,7,10,11-hexahydroxytriphenylene) crystals dispersed in an electronically insulating poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA) oligomer matrix. Optical and electrical measurements are performed to investigate the impact of the electric field on the alignment of Cu(HHTP) crystals and the formation of aggregated microstructures, which leads to an ≈5000-fold increase in the conductivity of the composite.

However, the influence of warm-up activities on video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery lobectomy (VATSL) remains largely unexplored. This study aims to investigate the potential effects of preoperative surgical warm-up on VATSL.

Several studies have confirmed that most proteins in the physically tethered sites between the ER and mitochondria, called mitochondria-associated ER membranes (MAMs), are vital for intracellular physiology. MAM proteins are involved in the regulation of calcium homeostasis, lipid metabolism, and mitochondrial dynamics and are associated with processes related to intracellular stress conditions, such as oxidative stress and unfolded protein responses.

Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) with late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) and extracellular volume (ECV) fractions is a preferred method to identify CA. However, the requirement of contrast limits its use in renal deficiency patients.

Cells possess complex and advanced mechanisms, including DNA repair, damage tolerance, cell cycle checkpoints, and cell death pathways, which together minimize the potentially harmful effects of DNA damage. However, in cancer cells, the normal DNA damage tolerance and response processes are disrupted or deregulated.

To address this challenge, we introduce a novel liquid crystalline nanoparticle-based formulation, the innovative medicine and drug delivery (IMD)-Omega soft capsule (cap), designed to optimize the pharmacokinetics (PK) and safety of EPA and DHA. This randomized, open-label, crossover study engages a cohort of 24 healthy adult subjects, utilizing key PK parameters like C, AUC, T, t, and Ke to conduct a comprehensive evaluation.

Using these bifunctional compounds we were able to optimize a synthetic sequence toward a collection of advanced intermediates for further elaboration. These advanced intermediates were then used as starting points for early medicinal chemistry and the identification of selective M1/M4 agonists.

Background And Aims: Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) is considered a new biomarker for atherosclerosis, but its ability to predict cardiovascular outcomes has been controversial. This study aimed to address the lack of data on PCSK9, coronary heart disease (CHD) severity, and major cardiovascular events (MACEs) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
Methods: A total of 2984 T2DM patients underwent selective coronary angiography, and their serum PCSK9 levels were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.
A fiber laser with strong spontaneous emission and high signal-to-noise ratio is proposed and experimentally demonstrated for simultaneous measurement of temperature and refractive index (RI). By cascading a single MZ interferometer, the power and the emission spectrum of the fiber laser are modulated by surrounding temperature and RI. The dual parameters are determined from the measured power change and interference dip shift.

Cdc42 periodically cycles between active and inactive states at sites of polarized growth. These periodic cycles are caused by positive feedback and time-delayed negative feedback loops.
