The present study leverages the comprehensive data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) to examine the Influencing factors of sarcopenia (SA) and sarcopenic obesity (SO). The investigation is designed to a non-invasive, cost-effective, and convenient method that is applicable to the adult population, enabling the accurate and simultaneous detection of risks associated with SA and SO. Furthermore, this research will evaluate the critical values of effective anthropometric indicators, providing early warning for risk management in self-health care and offering valuable insights for subsequent research and clinical practice.

Article Synopsis
  • - Ticks are a major vector for diseases like Lyme disease and tick-borne encephalitis in China, prompting researchers to study the variety and spread of viruses they carry in Inner Mongolia from March 2021 to May 2023.
  • - Through advanced sequencing methods, the study identified 20 RNA viruses from eight families, including several that can infect humans, with Ixodes persulcatus being the tick species with the highest viral diversity.
  • - The research highlights significant regional differences in the presence of these viruses and the complexities of coinfection among different tick species, emphasizing the need for ongoing surveillance of tick-borne diseases.

Article Synopsis
  • The review evaluated the safety and effectiveness of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines in patients with chronic liver disease (CLD), finding that these patients experienced more mild adverse effects compared to healthy controls but similar rates of severe adverse events.
  • Patients with CLD demonstrated lower levels of protective antibodies after vaccination but showed significantly reduced rates of SARS-CoV-2 infection, hospitalization, and death when vaccinated compared to those who were unvaccinated.
  • The findings suggest that while CLD patients may have a diminished antibody response, vaccination and booster doses are essential for this at-risk group.

Background: The association between Life's Essential 8 (LE8) score and all-cause mortality in patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) remains unknown.

Methods: This population-based prospective cohort study analyzed data of participants aged 20-79 years in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2005 to 2018, with linked mortality information until 2019. Multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression was used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95 % confidence intervals (CIs) for the association between different cardiovascular health (CVH) scores and all-cause mortality in participants with MASLD.

The , developed by the Chinese Society of Infectious Diseases of the Chinese Medical Association in 2019, serves as a valuable reference for standardizing the prevention of mother-to-child transmission in China. As new evidence continues to emerge, it is essential to update these guidelines regularly to optimize clinical practice and research. To this end, the Infectious Disease Physician Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association and the Chinese Society of Infectious Diseases of the Chinese Medical Association, in collaboration with multidisciplinary experts, have updated the guidelines based on the latest domestic and international research advancements and clinical practices, providing up-to-date guidance for clinicians and maternal and child healthcare workers.

Keemun black tea (KBT) is a luxurious traditional tea in China that has been commonly consumed because of its superior aroma and special taste. However, the risks remain unknown when KBT is used concomitantly with other drugs or food products. Therefore, we aimed to explore the effect of the tea polyphenols from KBT on the protein and mRNA levels of CYP450 and related mechanisms.

Background: Management of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (AD) needs long-term therapy. Stapokibart is a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting interleukin-4 receptor α subunit (IL-4Rα), a shared receptor for IL-4 and IL-13 which are key pathogenic drivers of AD. In a pivotal phase 3 trial (NCT05265923), significant higher proportions of adult AD patients receiving stapokibart than placebo achieved ≥75% improvement from baseline in Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI-75; 66.

Introduction: Previous studies have shown that rituximab (RTX) and cyclic oral corticosteroid-cyclophosphamide (CTX) regimens have similar effects on primary membranous nephropathy (PMN). However, no studies have compared RTX with an intravenous CTX regimen, which is more commonly used in China and requires fewer cumulative CTX doses.

Methods: We prospectively assigned 141 PMN patients with baseline proteinuria ≥4 g/24 h, serum albumin <30 g/L, and eGFR ≥30 mL/min × 1.

Aiming at the oscillation caused by the hydraulic cylinder of independent metering system (IMS) running between multiple working quadrants, a novel multiple quadrants switching displacement tracking control strategy is proposed in this paper. In this control strategy, both the cylinder chamber pressure under resistance and overrunning conditions are controlled by the inlet valve, and the outlet valve is utilized to control the displacement of cylinder. This method allows the hydraulic cylinder to always run in energy-efficient.

  • Long-term exposure to high altitudes negatively impacts cognitive function, particularly executive function, which can be measured through cognitive control capacity (CCC).
  • A study comparing high-altitude newcomers with low-altitude residents found that newcomers had significantly lower CCC.
  • Hyperbaric oxygen interventions improved CCC in high-altitude newcomers after 15 sessions, while those who did not receive the intervention showed no significant improvement.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study examined the effectiveness and safety of obinutuzumab versus rituximab in treating patients with primary membranous nephropathy who had not responded to standard medications after six months.
  • - A total of 63 patients were analyzed, with 21 receiving obinutuzumab and 42 receiving rituximab; the primary outcome (partial or complete remission at 12 months) was achieved in 95% of the obinutuzumab group compared to 67% for the rituximab group.
  • - Results showed that patients on obinutuzumab had better rates of complete remission and lower B cell counts, indicating a stronger immunological response, while both treatments were generally well tolerated. *

Objective: Physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior (SB) include several domains, whether the association of PA and SB with perceived stress is domain-specific is not clear. This study aims to identify associations of physical activity (exercise and housework) and leisure-time sedentary behavior (LTSB) with perceived stress among Chinese adults.

Methods: The data were collected from the 2015 China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS).

Secondary organic aerosol (SOA) accounts for a large fraction of fine particulate matter (PM), but the lack of vertical observations of SOA in the urban boundary layer (UBL) limits a comprehensive understanding of its sources and formation mechanisms. In this study, PM samples were simultaneously collected at 3 m, 118 m, and 488 m on the Canton Tower in Guangzhou during winter. Typical SOA tracers, including oxidation products of isoprene (SOA), monoterpene (SOA), sesquiterpene (SOA), and toluene (ASOA), were investigated alongside meteorological parameters and gaseous/particulate pollutants.
