Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic value of 5-hydroxymethylcytosines (5hmC) in circulating cell-free DNA (cfDNA) for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and to develop a diagnostic model.

Methods: Genome-wide 5hmC profiles in cfDNA from 174 NPC patients and 146 non-cancer individuals were analyzed using the 5hmC-Seal technique. A cfDNA 5hmC-based diagnostic model to identify NPC patients was developed using least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) logistic regression, and performance was evaluated with receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and confusion matrices.

Energy correlators that describe energy-weighted distances between two or three particles in a hadronic jet are measured using an event sample of sqrt[s]=13  TeV proton-proton collisions collected by the CMS experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.3  fb^{-1}. The measured distributions are consistent with the trends in the simulation that reveal two key features of the strong interaction: confinement and asymptotic freedom.

Chronic maxillary sinusitis accompanied by severe thickening of the sinus mucosa, blockage of the ostium, and patient-reported symptoms requires preoperative assessment and treatment by an otolaryngologist before maxillary sinus floor augmentation (MSFA). Prescription of antibiotics and nasal saline irrigation are the first choice of treatment; however, endoscopic sinus surgery is considered when the treatment's effect is limited and drug resistance is observed. Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) are a successful class of therapeutics, but their development can be challenging due to the risk of degradation that could happen during manufacturing, storage, and clinical use. One of the common causes of degradation is agitation stress from transportation and clinical handling, which increases interfacial stresses to mAbs. For example, the preparation of the dose solution prior to administration often requires diluting therapeutic mAbs in intravenous (IV) infusion bags containing normal saline, which can substantially reduce the level of protective surfactant and increase the level of salt in mAb solutions.

Consumption of a diet rich in saturated fat increases lipid absorption from the intestine, assembly into chylomicrons, and delivery to metabolic tissues via the lymphatic and circulatory systems. Accumulation of ceramide lipids, composed of sphingosine and a fatty acid, in metabolic tissues contributes to the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes mellitus and cancer. Using a mesenteric lymph duct cannulated rat model, we showed that ceramides are generated by the intestine and assembled into chylomicrons, which are transported via the mesenteric lymphatic system.
