Aims: To evaluate the quality of responses from large language models (LLMs) to patient-generated conjunctivitis questions.
Methods: A two-phase, cross-sectional study was conducted at the Eye and ENT Hospital of Fudan University. In phase 1, four LLMs (GPT-4, Qwen, Baichuan 2 and PaLM 2) responded to 22 frequently asked conjunctivitis questions.
Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic value of 5-hydroxymethylcytosines (5hmC) in circulating cell-free DNA (cfDNA) for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and to develop a diagnostic model.
Methods: Genome-wide 5hmC profiles in cfDNA from 174 NPC patients and 146 non-cancer individuals were analyzed using the 5hmC-Seal technique. A cfDNA 5hmC-based diagnostic model to identify NPC patients was developed using least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) logistic regression, and performance was evaluated with receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and confusion matrices.
Energy correlators that describe energy-weighted distances between two or three particles in a hadronic jet are measured using an event sample of sqrt[s]=13 TeV proton-proton collisions collected by the CMS experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.3 fb^{-1}. The measured distributions are consistent with the trends in the simulation that reveal two key features of the strong interaction: confinement and asymptotic freedom.

Non-CG DNA methylation, a plant-specific epigenetic mark mainly regulated by chromomethylase (CMT), is known to play important roles in . However, whether and to what extent non-CG DNA methylation modulates agronomic traits in crops remain to be explored. Here, we describe the consequences of non-CG DNA hypomethylation on development, seed composition, and yield in soybean ().

The goal was to enhance cell growth, viability, and glucose metabolism and to develop efficient suspension-adapted LMH cells for large-scale vaccine production.
Methods: LMH cells previously cultured in an adherent state were transferred to 125 mL Erlenmeyer flasks to conduct suspension culture.
Background: CFTR modulators are approved for approximately 90% of people with cystic fibrosis in the USA and provide substantial clinical benefit. N1303K (Asn1303Lys), one of the most common class 2 CFTR defects, has not been approved for these therapies by any regulatory agency. Preclinical investigation by our laboratories showed N1303K CFTR activation with elexacaftor-tezacaftor-ivacaftor (ETI).

Interfacial engineering is an effective strategy to enhance V in PSCs by tailoring the energy level alignments between the constituent layers. Herein, n-type quinoxaline-phosphine oxide-based small molecules with strong dipole moments is designed and introduce them as effective cathode interfacial layers.

Prescription of antibiotics and nasal saline irrigation are the first choice of treatment; however, endoscopic sinus surgery is considered when the treatment's effect is limited and drug resistance is observed. Nevertheless, MSFA performed in the presence of sinus pathologies have been reported to have favorable results when the lesions are managed properly.

These have played pivotal roles in research on livestock and poultry breeding, facilitating a deeper understanding of genetic diversity, the relationship between genes, and genetic bases in livestock and poultry. This article provides a review of the applications of GWAS and mGWAS in animal genetic breeding, aiming to offer reference and inspiration for relevant researchers, promote innovation in animal genetic improvement and breeding methods, and contribute to the sustainable development of animal husbandry.

Liposomal bupivacaine (LB) for interscalene blocks (ISBs) and the addition of dexamethasone to ISBs have both presented as additional options for extended analgesia. We aimed to compare the efficacy of LB to a single-shot ISB (SISB) with added dexamethasone to an ISC.

Cytoprotection mitigates oxidative stress, nutrient deprivation, and mechanical stress, which lead to cell damage and necrosis. We aimed to examine the protective effect of Linne (RSL), common radish, against oxidative stress by HO in human NP cells and whether the RSL extracts can inhibit triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2), an inducer of apoptosis and degeneration in NP cells.

SIRT3, a member of the sirtuin family of NAD-dependent protein deacylase, is critical for DLBCL growth and survival. A mitochondria-targeted SIRT3 small-molecule inhibitor, YC8-02, exhibits promising activity against DLBCL.

We compared the single-nucleus transcriptome of the hippocampus with that of other cortical regions to identify hippocampus-specific neurogenic markers.
Methods: We analyzed 26,189 nuclei from four human brains collected within 16 h of death.
Objective: Fenestrated-branched endovascular aortic repair (FB-EVAR) has shown favorable outcomes for repair of complex aneurysms and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms. Physician-modified endografting (PMEG) and the Gore thoracoabdominal multibranch endoprosthesis (TAMBE) provide custom and off-the-shelf devices for FB-EVAR, respectively. This study compares the outcomes of TAMBE and PMEG at a single institution.

Although additional antigens with conserved sequences are have been tested, the extent to which these vaccines can provide immunity against different coronavirus species remains unclear. In this study, we assessed the potential of nucleocapsid (N) as a coronavirus vaccine antigen.

Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) are a successful class of therapeutics, but their development can be challenging due to the risk of degradation that could happen during manufacturing, storage, and clinical use. One of the common causes of degradation is agitation stress from transportation and clinical handling, which increases interfacial stresses to mAbs. For example, the preparation of the dose solution prior to administration often requires diluting therapeutic mAbs in intravenous (IV) infusion bags containing normal saline, which can substantially reduce the level of protective surfactant and increase the level of salt in mAb solutions.

Bacteroides fragilis resides in mammals and human intestines and secrete series of proteins and molecules outside that cause various diseases such as colon cancer and chronic colitis in the host. B. fragilis has been shown to produce numerous proteins to the infected cell surface which are involved in host colonization, microbial interactions, and pathogenicity.

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between depressive symptoms and a cumulative risk index comprising individual, family, and social variables among nursing students.
Methods: We enrolled 1716 Chinese nursing students from three universities in a paperless survey that assessed a range of individual, family, and social risk factors associated with depressive symptoms.
NADPH oxidase 2 (NOX2) is an enzyme responsible for generating reactive oxygen species, primarily found in phagocytes. Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD), along with bacterial infections such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb), is a representative NOX2-deficient X-linked disease characterized by uncontrolled inflammation. However, the precise roles of host-derived factors that induce infection-mediated hyperinflammation in NOX2-deficient condition remain incompletely understood.

Accumulation of ceramide lipids, composed of sphingosine and a fatty acid, in metabolic tissues contributes to the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes mellitus and cancer. Using a mesenteric lymph duct cannulated rat model, we showed that ceramides are generated by the intestine and assembled into chylomicrons, which are transported via the mesenteric lymphatic system.
