Although the number of patients with eye diseases is increasing, efficient drug delivery to the posterior segment of the eyeball remains challenging. The reasons include the unique anatomy of the eyeball, the blood-aqueous barrier, the blood-retina barrier, and drug elimination via the anterior chamber and uveoscleral routes. Solutions to these obstacles for therapeutic delivery to the posterior segment will increase the efficacy, efficiency, and safety of ophthalmic treatment.

In order to investigate the effects of multi-frequency ultrasound-assisted immersion freezing (MUIF) on the meat quality of Macrobrachium rosenbergii, tail meat was subjected to different MUIF treatments respectively, namely 20 + 40 kHz (MUIF-20 + 40), 20 + 60 kHz (MUIF-20 + 60), 40 + 60 kHz (MUIF-40 + 60) and 20 + 40 + 60 kHz (MUIF-20 + 40 + 60), and the immersion freezing (IF) as control. Results showed that average diameter of ice crystals was 28 μm in IF, and that was only 8 μm in MUIF-20 + 40 + 60. When compared to IF, MUIF alleviated oxidative deterioration of lipids and proteins, but only at higher ultrasound frequency (MUIF-40 + 60; MUIF-20 + 40 + 60).

We present two magnetic particle imaging (MPI) systems with bore sizes of 75 mm and 100 mm, respectively, using three-dimensionally arranged permanent magnets for excitation and frequency mixing magnetic detection (FMMD) coils for detection. A rotational and a translational stage were combined to move the field free line (FFL) and acquire the MPI signal, thereby enabling simultaneous overall translation and rotational movement. With this concept, the complex coil system used in many MPI systems, with its high energy consumption to generate the drive field, can be replaced.
