Background: Diabetic angiopathy (DA) is a diabetic vascular complication. Pyroptosis is an inflammatory death that plays an important role in the development of DA, but the underlying mechanisms have not been fully elucidated.

Methods: The GSE169332 dataset from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) was subjected to single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis, and the data of diabetic mice were subjected to bulk RNA-seq.

Acute pancreatitis manifests as an inflammatory condition, starting with the acinar cells in the pancreas and gradually escalating to widespread inflammation. Hypertriglyceridemia ranks as the third leading reason for acute pancreatitis, following gallstones and alcohol use, making up 2-14% of instances [1]. Numerous research findings indicate that acute pancreatitis triggered by hypertriglyceridemia (HTG-AP, hypertriglyceridemic acute pancreatitis) may lead to increased death rates compared to other acute pancreatitis causes hypertriglyceridemia, characterized by fasting serum triglycerides exceeding (150mg/dL; 1.

(), a major foodborne pathogen, poses significant risks to public health by causing gastrointestinal diseases. Among its virulence factors, Yersiniabactin (Ybt), a siderophore, plays a crucial role in iron acquisition and enhancing intestinal colonization. Despite previous studies highlighting -Ybt's involvement in inflammation, its exact mechanisms remain unclear.

Variable marine environmental conditions, particularly at the sea surface, present considerable challenges to cross-media laser transmission. This study simulates uplink laser transmission through a seawater-sea surface-air channel via ray tracing and Monte Carlo methods, with an emphasis on the impacts of the sea surface channel. A spatial model of the sea surface is introduced, which uses a wave spectrum and fast Fourier transform technology, and the results are compared against those of a classical statistical model.

The cardiovascular and pulmonary disease risks of the use of electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) are uncertain. We recently showed that ENDS solvent-derived aerosol (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin, PG:VG) exposure induced a transient receptor potential ankyrin-1 (TRPA1)-dependent endothelial dysfunction (ED) in healthy female mice. As thermal degradation of PG:VG generates aldehydes, we hypothesized that acrolein (AC), a constituent of ENDS-derived aerosol and a known TRPA1 agonist, was responsible, in part, for the observed TRPA1-dependent pulmonary and vascular effects of PG:VG.

The physicochemical properties of coal dust significantly affect its toxicity and dust suppression efficiency. Currently, lab-crushed coal dust is commonly used for characterization instead of the original coal dust (OCD) sampled from underground mining sites. This practice leads to an inaccurate understanding of the underground coal dust properties.

Buckwheat, a nutrient-rich pseudocereal, is known for its various biological properties, but its antinutritional factors, such as phytic acid and tannins, can hinder nutrient absorption. Fermentation improves buckwheat's nutritional profile by enhancing bioactive compounds, increasing digestibility, and reducing antinutritional factors. This review comprehensively examines the effects of fermentation and microbial strains on the nutritional composition and functional properties of buckwheat, highlighting their impact on health benefits and potential applications in diverse food products.

Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is the leading cause of acute liver failure and poses a significant clinical challenge in both diagnosis and treatment. Serine synthesis pathway (SSP) links glycolysis to one-carbon cycle and plays an important role in cell homeostasis by regulating substance synthesis, redox homeostasis and gene expression. However, the regulatory mechanism of SSP in DILI remains unclear.

Background: The Highly Pathogenic Island (HPI) found in Yersinia pestis can be horizontally transferred to E. coli, enhancing its virulence and pathogenicity. Ubiquitin (Ub) acts as an activator of the NF-κB pathway and plays a critical role in the inflammatory response.

Amidst the increasing demand for premium dark tea, the utilization of Aspergillus niger-inoculated fermentation has emerged as a potential solution to address the challenges associated with extended processing cycles and inconsistent quality. This study comprehensively investigated the efficacy and mechanisms of A. niger PW-2 inoculation in enhancing dark tea quality compared to spontaneous fermentation, using metabolomics, electronic tongue, molecular docking, and high-throughput sequencing.

Metabolic diseases have seen a steady increase in incidence in recent years, becoming one of the main causes of sub-health status globally. Neutrophil extracellular traps(NETs) are reticular complexes containing DNA, which trap foreign microorganisms or induce an immune response. Current research indicates that NETs are widely active in various metabolic diseases and can cause severe damage to the body through multiple mechanisms, including promoting blood glucose elevation, damaging vascular endothelial cells, forming vascular embolisms, triggering intense inflammation, and promoting lipid accumulation.

Excessive consumption of caffeine presents health risks, necessitating the development of effective decaffeination methods in the food industry. This study introduced an innovative CMP aerogel that incorporated montmorillonite into a carboxymethylcellulose/polyethyleneimine framework to selectively decaffeinate without compromising the food's original flavor. The CMP aerogel achieved a caffeine adsorption capacity of 18.

Some prior studies suggested that supplementation with carnosine or β-alanine can improve cognitive abilities and neurodegenerative disorders in certain elderly or at-risk populations. However, the efficacy of carnosine in improving cognitive performance in a healthy, adult population has not been assessed. We examined this as a post-hoc secondary outcome in the placebo-controlled, randomized Nucleophilic Defense Against PM Toxicity (NEAT) clinical trial (NCT03314987).

After the ban on polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), the replacement of these compounds with organophosphorus flame retardants (OPFRs) has drawn widespread attention worldwide. In arid/semi-arid regions, characteristics such as low precipitation, frequent strong winds, and low soil organic carbon content potentially influence the environmental fate of OPFRs. In this study, we investigated the concentrations of nine OPFRs in water, sediment, soil, air, and dry deposition in Lanzhou, an arid/semi-arid region in China.

The quality of Sichuan paocai in natural fermentation is often inconsistent due to the complexity of its microbial community and environmental influences. To address this, dominant microbial strains were selectively inoculated to improve the product's quality and safety. However, vacuum freeze-drying, commonly used to prepare direct vat set (DVS) starters, can significantly damage strains due to freezing stress.

Existing studies indicate that dysregulation or abnormal expression of small nucleolar RNA (snoRNA) is closely associated with various diseases, including lung cancer. Furthermore, these diseases often involve multiple targets, making the redevelopment of traditional medicines highly promising. Accurate prediction of potential snoRNA therapeutic targets is essential for early disease intervention and the redevelopment of traditional medicines.

Esophageal cancer is a relatively common malignant tumor of the digestive tract. Patients with esophageal cancer show a high incidence of aspiration after surgery, which has a serious impact on their prognosis and rehabilitation. Nevertheless, while existing and past endeavors have concentrated on enhancing the diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for esophageal cancer, the necessity of preventing pneumonia caused by postoperative aspiration remains to be adequately addressed.

Multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria pose a global health threat, underscoring the need for new antibiotics. Lefamulin, the first novel-mechanism antibiotic approved by the FDA in decades, showcases pleuromutilins' promise due to low mutation frequency. However, their clinical use is limited by poor pharmacokinetics and organ toxicity.
