Mediating effective signal conversion strategies through intermediate parameters to develop easily integrated smart sensing platforms remains a challenge. Herein, a compact and miniaturized optical, electrical and visual sensor was constructed through reasonably designing and assembling three sub-sensors, which can simultaneously and independently feedback signal changes brought by near-infrared (NIR) light. Concretely, the thermal effect induced by multifunctional VC MQDs@polyaniline@NiFeO with excellent photothermal performance was employed to regulate the signal output of luminescence, color and resistance in multilayer sensing chip, which the chip was formed by attaching thermochromic paper and thermoelectric module layer-by-layer to the nonconductive backside of transparent indium tin oxide electrode modified with electrochemiluminescent (ECL) signal probe.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most lethal cancers, with a 5-year overall survival rate of less than 10%. Despite the development of novel therapies in recent decades, current chemotherapeutic strategies offer limited clinical benefits due to the high heterogeneity and desmoplastic tumor microenvironment (TME) of pancreatic cancer as well as inefficient drug penetration. Antibody- and nucleic acid-based targeting therapies have emerged as strong contenders in pancreatic cancer drug discovery.

Article Synopsis
  • Graves' disease (GD), known as 'Ying Bing' in traditional Chinese medicine, has been treated with the classic herbal formula Haizao Yuhu decoction for over 400 years, and Pingkang granules, a modified version, has shown promise but lacks comprehensive clinical evidence.
  • A study was conducted to gather high-quality evidence on the effectiveness of Pingkang granules for GD through a randomized controlled trial involving 186 patients assigned to different treatment groups over 12 weeks.
  • Results indicated that all treatment regimens, including various combinations of Pingkang granules and methimazole, significantly reduced serum free triiodothyronine (FT) levels, demonstrating potential effectiveness in managing Graves' hyperthyroidism.

  • The study investigates the effectiveness and safety of combining anlotinib and camrelizumab as a second-line treatment for advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), since combined usage had not been previously documented. !* -
  • In a retrospective analysis of 58 patients, those treated with anlotinib and camrelizumab showed longer progression-free survival (PFS) and higher disease control rates compared to those receiving anlotinib and S-1, despite a similar incidence of severe treatment-related adverse events. !* -
  • The findings suggest that the combination treatment has potential benefits in managing advanced ESCC, with both treatments primarily causing mild side effects, recommending further exploration and usage in clinical

  • Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a serious complication of liver failure that often leads to poor outcomes; this study evaluates D-dimer as a predictor of mortality in HE patients.
  • About 39.2% of patients with chronic liver failure and HE died within a year, with higher D-dimer levels in those who did not survive, indicating its potential as a risk factor for mortality.
  • A new predictive model combining age, D-dimer, ALT, and sodium showed better accuracy for 1-year mortality than traditional scoring systems like MELD and Child-Pugh.

Multimodal biosensors with independent signaling pathways can self-calibrate and improve the reliability of disease biomarker detection. Herein, a colorimetric-fluorescent dual-mode paper-based biosensor with PAN/Fe(III)-CNOs (FPCs) as core components has been developed, which information is recognized by smartphone and naked eye. Using 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol (PAN) as a mediator, Fe(III) is enriched on the surface of carbon nano-onions (CNOs), endowing FPCs with excellent mimetic enzyme activity and photothermal conversion ability, which allows it to output amplified colorimetric signals under laser irradiation.

Introduction: To assess the safety and efficacy of repeated intravitreal injections of RC28-E, a novel bispecific antibody that simultaneously binds vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD). This was a prospective, multicenter, open-label clinical trial; 37 patients with choroidal neovascularization secondary to AMD and best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) letter scores between 73 and 34 were enrolled.

Methods: Treatment regimens consisted of a 3-month loading phase and a pro re nata (PRN) maintenance phase.

In this research, with an aim to develop novel pyrazole oxime ether derivatives possessing potential biological activity, thirty-two pyrazole oxime ethers, including a substituted pyridine ring, have been synthesized and structurally identified through H NMR, C NMR, and HRMS. Bioassay data indicated that most of these compounds owned strong insecticidal properties against , , , and at a dosage of 500 μg/mL, and some title compounds were active towards at 500 μg/mL. Furthermore, some of the designed compounds had potent insecticidal effects against , , or at 100 μg/mL, with the mortalities of compounds , , , , , , , , , , and against , in particular, all reaching 100%.

  • Linear π-conjugated polymers (LCPs) exhibit impressive optical features like fluorescence and electrochemiluminescence (ECL), but strong interchain interactions hinder luminescence efficiency.
  • Researchers synthesized new LCPs using 1H-1,2,4-triazole-3,5-diamine and terephthalaldehyde, which reduced π-π stacking and enhanced charge transport for brighter luminescence.
  • The modified LCPs were combined with polyethyleneimine to create an advanced ECL system for detecting colorectal cancer exosomes, demonstrating improved accuracy in sensing applications.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated the impact of the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index on the risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients with liver cirrhosis caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV).
  • Out of 242 patients followed for about 37 months, a significant number developed HCC, with the TyG index being notably higher in these patients compared to those who did not develop HCC.
  • Age, type of cirrhosis (decompensated), TyG index, and HBV DNA positivity were found to be independent risk factors for HCC, leading to the development of a predictive model to assess HCC risk among these patients.

Corrosion protection of metal has become an important and urgent topic, which requires the development of an inexpensive, environmentally friendly, and highly efficient corrosion inhibitor. Herein, a sweet potato leaf extract (SPL) was obtained by a simple water-based extraction method and then as a green corrosion inhibitor for 6N01 Al alloy in the seawater was well investigated by the weight loss method and various electrochemical tests. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopies were carried out to investigate the compositions of SPL.

Exploring the photochemical (PEC) method induced by low-energy light source makes great significance to achieve high stability and accurate analysis. A sensing platform driven by near-infrared (NIR) light was designed by making the biochemically encoded carbon rich plasmonic hybrid (CPH) probe, the peptide@C-MoC. The inherent plasmonic effect of C-MoC CPH can directly absorb NIR light, thus starting effective electronic-hole pairs separation.
