Introduction: Carbapenem-resistant hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae (CR-hvKP) is a highly pathogenic, drug-resistant, and transmissible "superbug" that causes infections in hospitals and communities. Because of the lack of effective antimicrobial treatment options, morbidity and mortality from CR-hvKP infections have increased dramatically, and outbreaks and the rapid spread of CR-hvKP in hospitals have become a major global public health challenge.

Methods: The mechanisms of molecular evolution in CR-hvKP include the acquisition of a hypervirulent plasmid encoding a virulence gene by carbapenemase-producing K pneumoniae, the horizontal transfer of plasmids carrying carbapenem resistance genes to hvKP, and the acquisition of fusion plasmids carrying both carbapenem resistance genes and hypervirulent genes by classic K pneumoniae.

Elemental doping is a widely adopted strategy to enhance the electrochemical performance of electrode materials, yet limited studies have explored the resulting variations in the bonding environments and the interactions between dopant atoms and their neighboring atoms. In this study, halogen-doped (fluorine, chlorine, and bromine) polyanionic phosphates are synthesized to investigate the effects of halogen doping on the fine crystal structure, chemical micro-environment, and electronic structure of NaVTi(PO) for Na ion storage. Density functional theory analysis reveals that halogen doping strengthens interactions at the Na sites while disrupting their symmetry, thereby promoting Na conductivity.

Adsorbents, especially those with high removal efficiency, long life, and multi-purpose capabilities, are the most crucial components in an adsorption system. By taking advantage of the liquid-like mobility and crystal-like ordering of liquid crystal materials, a liquid crystal induction method is developed and applied to construct three-dimensional graphene-based adsorbents featuring excellent shape adaptability, a distinctive pore structure, and abundant surface functional groups. When the monoliths are used for water restoration, the large amount of residual oxygen-containing groups is more susceptible to electrophilic attack, thus contributing to cation adsorption (up to 705.

In this paper, we use the small baseline set technology and the early geological hazard identification method based on the selection of Permanent Scatter (PS) and Distributed Scatter (DS) points to carry out the research on surface deformation monitoring caused by underground activities in mining cluster areas. We adopted the Small Baseline Subset InSAR (SBAS-InSAR) technique to process Sentinel-1A SAR images over the research area from March 2017 to May 2021. The deformation estimation technology based on the robustness of PS points and DS points can be used for early identification of high-density surface subsidence in a large area of mines.

Dry eye is a common ocular disease that results in discomfort and impaired vision, impacting an individual's quality of life. A great number of drugs administered in eye drops to treat dry eye are poorly soluble in water and are rapidly eliminated from the ocular surface, which limits their therapeutic effects. Therefore, it is imperative to design a novel drug delivery system that not only improves the water solubility of the drug but also prolongs its retention time on the ocular surface.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers developed a gold modified thiol graphene platform (Au@HS-rGO) to create an electrochemical aptasensor for detecting mercury ions (Hg) using a gold-palladium modified zirconium framework (AuPd@UiO-67) as a signal enhancer.
  • The sensing process involves attaching a substrate strand (Apt1) and then a signal strand (Apt2) that is activated in the presence of Hg, leading to an electrical signal due to the nanozyme’s activity.
  • The aptasensor demonstrated a wide detection range (1.0 nmol/L to 1.0 mmol/L), a low detection limit (0.16 nmol/L), and proved to be selective, reproducible, and stable
