Henoch-Schonlein purpura nephritis (HSPN) is a systemic vascular inflammatory disease. Huanglian Decoction (HLD) ameliorates renal injury in nephritis; however, the mechanism of action of HLD on HSPN has not been investigated. This study aimed to investigate the protective mechanism of HLD treatment in HSPN.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the effects and possible mechanisms of ASP on the biological behavior of K562 cells based on RNA-seq.
To date, there is a lack of systematic investigation on the elemental sulfur-driven autotrophic denitrification (SDAD) process for removing nitrate (NO-N) from mariculture wastewater deficient in organic carbon sources. Therefore, a packed-bed reactor was established and continuously operated for 230 days to investigate the operation performance, kinetic characteristics and microbial community of SDAD biofilm process. Results indicate that the NO-N removal efficiencies and rates varied with the operational conditions including HRT (1-4 h), influent concentrations of NO-N (25-100 mg L) and DO (0.

Quantitative calculation of the supply ratio of nutrients by different water masses suggests that the intrusion of Kuroshio subsurface water (KSSW) may indeed be an important factor in the formation of harmful algal blooms (HABs) in the Min-Zhe coastal area. This region in China has a complex hydrographic structure as well as a high incidence of HABs. The results of the calculations of the dissolved neodymium and its isotopes show that KSSW is an important provider of dissolved inorganic nitrogen (30-90 %) and phosphates (80-100 %) compared to the cases of the Taiwan Warm Current and the Changjiang Diluted Water.

In this study, we evaluated the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and safety of tripegfilgrastim in pediatric patients. A phase I, open-label, single ascending-dose study was performed in pediatric patients with solid tumors or lymphoma (ClinicalTrials.

Recent reports suggest that recessive variants in EFL1 are also responsible for SDS. However, the precise genetic mechanism that leads to EFL1-induced SDS remains incompletely understood.

This study aims to explore whether AFAP1-AS1 regulates macrophage polarization in aortic valve calcification. Macrophage polarization and AFAP1-AS1 expression were detected in normal and calcified aortic valves of DCAVD patients.

Since ancient times, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been widely used in East Asia (such as China, Japan, South Korea) in the clinical treatment of bone marrow suppression after chemotherapy, which plays the role of synergism, toxicity reduction, immune regulation, and gradually developed into an indispensable role. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to use a network meta-analysis to evaluate the evidence that traditional Chinese medicine is related to the efficacy and safety of chemotherapy-induced myelosuppression.

Materials And Methods: In this multicenter, prospective, observational study, patients receiving clofarabine as mono/combination therapy were followed up every 4-6 weeks for 6 months or until hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Response rates, survival outcomes, and adverse events were assessed.
Background: To help with the clinical practice of renal cancer patients, prognostic models are urgently warranted. We hunted and identified prognostic variables associated with recurrence-free survival (RFS) for renal cancer patients.
Patients And Methods: In this retrospective study, 187 renal cancer patients who had received curative radical/partial nephrectomy between November 2011 and January 2017 were enrolled in the current study.

Acquired multidrug resistance is often blamed for the failure of chemotherapy in patients with malignant tumors, including chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). In this study, the authors investigated the role of circular RNA 0080145 (circ_0080145) in imatinib (IM) resistance of CML. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction was applied to measure the expression of circ_0080145, microRNA-326 (miR-326), and PTPRF interacting protein alpha 1 () mRNA.

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) analysis of pro-inflammatory cytokines revealed that NRON overexpression suppressed, whereas NRON silencing facilitated the angiotensin II (Ang II)-induced inflammatory response in primary cultured atrial myocytes. The chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) results showed that nuclear factor of activated T cell 3 (NFATc3) was recruited to the promoter region of interleukin (IL) 12 (IL-12) in atrial myocytes.

Pharmacokinetic (PK) analysis of high-dose carboplatin was performed in pediatric solid tumor patients undergoing high-dose chemotherapy (HDCT) and autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) with BSA-based dosing to calculate the AUCs achieved with this dosing method and to find the correlation between the PK and the renal functions and the adverse events. Carboplatin was administered as once daily intravenous doses at 300, 400, or 500 mg/m/day over 1 h for 3 or 4 days.

This study aims to evaluate the outcome of HDC/auto-SCT with topotecan-thiotepa-carboplatin and melphalan-etoposide-carboplatin (TTC/MEC) regimens in pediatric brain tumors.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data of 33 children (median age 6 years) who underwent HDC/auto-SCT (18 tandem and 15 single) with uniform conditioning regimens.
Objective: To analyze the incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) in the first year after cancer diagnosis in children and to evaluate the short-term and long-term effects on renal function and proteinuria.
Study Design: Retrospective review of medical records was done on children who were diagnosed and treated for cancer at Seoul National University Hospital between 2004 and 2013. AKI was defined according to the Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes criteria.
Aim: The Lao-Korea National Children's Hospital initiated and developed a pediatric cancer treatment program for the first time in September 2012, through education by the Lee Jong-Wook project, establishment of infrastructure by the Korea International Cooperation Agency, and cooperation of medical staff.
Material And Methods: we describe the experience of initiating and building this program by retrospectively reviewing the data from pediatric patients with cancer diagnosed at the Lao-Korea National Children's Hospital between September 2012 and December 2016.
Results: A total of 78 patients diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) (n = 44), acute myeloid leukemia (AML) (n = 12), chronic myeloid leukemia (n = 7), lymphoma (n = 6), retinoblastoma (n = 5), Wilms tumor (n = 3), and germ cell tumor (n = 1) were included.
Background: Concentrations of 6-thioguanine (6TG) nucleotides and 6-methylmercaptopurine (6MMP) nucleotides in RBCs were measured using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). This assay was validated for clinical use and was applied to blood samples from patients taking mercaptopurine (6MP).
Methods: RBCs were hemolyzed and deproteinized using perchloric acid, followed by heating for the hydrolysis of nucleotides, and the resultant base was measured using LC-MS/MS.
We synthetized and investigated the anti-leukemic potential of the novel cytostatic bis(4-hydroxycoumarin) derivative OT-55 which complied with the Lipinski's rule of 5 and induced differential toxicity in various chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) cell models. OT-55 triggered ER stress leading to canonical, caspase-dependent apoptosis and release of danger associated molecular patterns. Consequently, OT-55 promoted phagocytosis of OT-55-treated CML cells by both murine and human monocyte-derived macrophages.
