Diagnostic accuracy of arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) is imperative for delineating management. The current standard is digital subtraction angiography (DSA). Arterial spin labeling (ASL) is an understudied noninvasive, non-contrast technique that allows angioarchitecture visualization and additionally quantifies cortical and AVM cerebral blood flow and hemodynamics.

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks occur in cranial operations and are associated with significant patient burden and expense. The use of Hemopatch as a dural sealant in cranial neurosurgical procedures is described and analyzed in this study.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA novel endovascular technique to occlude high flow direct arteriovenous fistulae is presented, where the distal tip of the microcatheter acts as a nucleus that the operator can grow a plug from a liquid embolic agent. Its advantages (such as cost-saving and distal reachability), disadvantages (such as embolic material instability), and technique are discussed.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Tension pneumoventricle (TPV) is a subtype of tension pneumocephalus in which the air is trapped inside the ventricles through a one-way osteodural defect, causing an increase in intracranial pressure. TPV secondary to cutaneous-ventricular fistula has been reported only twice in the literature.
Case Description: Herein, we report the third case in a 53-year-old woman who developed TPV with decreased level of consciousness after removal of a posterior fossa meningioma while she was on external ventricular drainage.
