Background: Preoperative localization of hyperfunctioning parathyroid glands in primary hyperparathyroidism is essential for successful parathyroid surgery, particularly in patients with previous negative imaging or reoperations.
Methods: A multicenter registry study was performed in 776 patients with primary hyperparathyroidism from 53 hospitals in Germany and Austria who underwent parathyroid surgery after preoperative F-choline or C-methionine positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT).
Results: In 683 of 776 patients (88%) (78% female, aged 15-86 years), primary hyperparathyroidism was caused by a single-gland parathyroid adenoma.

Our two study objectives included: first, examine factors affecting perioperative care experiences of older Black surgical patients with mental health problems, and second, ascertain design and implementation requirements for a culturally-adapted perioperative mental health intervention.
Design Setting And Participants: We conducted six focus groups with older Black patients (n = 15; ≥50 years; surgery within the past 5 years and/or interest in mental health research; history of distress, anxiety, or depression coping with surgery/hospitalization/) from a large academic medical center.

We present a protocol for randomised controlled trials (RCTs) in three surgical cohorts: cardiac, oncological and orthopaedic, investigating whether a perioperative mental health intervention, with psychological and pharmacological components, reduces perioperative symptoms of depression and anxiety in older surgical patients.
Methods And Analysis: Adults ≥60 years undergoing cardiac, orthopaedic or oncological surgery will be enrolled in one of three-linked type 1 hybrid effectiveness/implementation RCTs that will be conducted in tandem with similar methods.

Whether their growth velocity and incidence might be related to their location in the pancreas has not been investigated yet.

Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC) has poor prognosis, high mortality rate and lack of effective therapy. A synergic combination of PD-L1 antibody together with cell death promoting substances like deacetylase inhibitors (DACi) and multi-kinase inhibitors (MKI) could sensitize ATC cells and promote decay by autophagic cell death. The PD-L1-inhibitor atezolizumab synergized with panobinostat (DACi) and sorafenib (MKI) leading to significant reduction of the viability, measured by real time luminescence, of three different patient-derived primary ATC cells, of C643 cells and follicular epithelial thyroid cells too.

We developed and adapted a perioperative mental health (PMH) bundle for older patients comprised of behavioral activation (BA) and medication optimization (MO) to ameliorate anxiety and depressive symptoms before, during, and after cardiac, orthopedic, and oncologic surgery.
Methods: We used mixed-methods including workshop studios with patients, caregivers, clinicians, researchers, and interventionists; intervention refinement and reflection meetings; patient case review meetings; intervention session audio-recordings and documentation forms; and patient and caregiver semi-structured interviews.
Introduction: Few available data indicate that a mutation-based "neoadjuvant" therapy in advanced anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC) might convert an initially unresectable primary tumor to resectable and optimize local tumor control. We evaluated a preoperative short-term "neoadjuvant" therapy with a BRAF-directed therapy or, in case of BRAF non-mutated tumors, an mKI/checkpoint inhibitor combination in three patients with ATC stage IVB and C.

In this study, 136 Egyptian Brucella melitensis strains isolated from animals and humans between 2001 and 2020 were analysed by examining the whole-core-genome single-nucleotide polymorphism (cgSNP) in comparison to the in silico multilocus variable number of tandem repeat analysis (MLVA-16). Almost all Egyptian isolates were belonging to the West Mediterranean clade, except two isolates from buffalo and camel were belonging to the American and East Mediterranean clades, respectively.
