Methamphetamine use is associated with a range of cardiovascular conditions including hypertension and heart failure. Beta-blocker use is commonly avoided when treating patients intoxicated with methamphetamines due to a fear of inducing unopposed alpha stimulation and worsening hypertension. We performed a retrospective review of medical records in a county hospital in California with a high prevalence of methamphetamine users.

Social media (SM) groups can connect users to similar others and may be particularly valuable for marginalized populations who lack support in their offline lives. Prior research highlights substantial heterogeneity in users' engagement with and experience in SM groups, which may relate to social and emotional health in important ways. The current study used a cross-sectional survey of users of Facebook groups for multiracial people ( = 424) to identify user profiles and test how profiles relate to depressive symptoms and global sense of belonging.

Methods: This was a retrospective cohort analysis of the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP) database from 2015 to 2021. Subjects were selected by filtering for cases of hysterectomy using current procedural terminology (CPT codes).

Introduction: Fertility-related concerns cause significant anxiety among patients with Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Syndrome (HBOC). While rates of psychiatric conditions are high in chronic pain populations, surprisingly little attention has been given to if (and why) a comorbid psychiatric diagnosis may influence the estimation of pain in others. Using an experimental vignette paradigm, the current study examined whether a diagnostic label of major depressive disorder (MDD) would impact observer pain estimates of a woman with chronic pain, and whether causal attributions of pain and pain genuineness might help explain these effects.

Background: As part of the education objectives in obstetrics and gynecology residency programs, the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology includes benign breast disease and breast cancer screening, diagnosis, and management. However, obstetrics and gynecology residency curricula vary highly in their focus on this subject. The comfort level of the average obstetrics and gynecology resident in the United States in managing breast disease is unknown.

Background: Chronic pain is a highly prevalent and disabling condition which is often undertreated and poorly managed in the community. The emergence of COVID-19 has further complicated pain care, with an increased prevalence of chronic pain and mental health comorbidities, and burnout among physicians. Patients were defined as high-risk EC patients when they were 1) diagnosed at 50 years or younger, 2) had a positive family history for cancer or 3) had evidence of loss of mismatch repair protein expression on tumor immunohistochemistry.

The objective of this study is to examine the presence of gynecologic oncology divisions on Instagram and to analyze the content of their posts. The Naturalistic Cannabis Administration Protocol (NCAP): A Proof-of-Concept Study.

Contextual factors of clinical settings have long been recognized as producing measurable changes in physiology, emotionality, and cognition. Among people who use drugs, these settings may be associated with higher levels of perceived stigma and stereotype threat which may meaningfully confound the effects of cannabis on outcomes of interest.

Yet researchers currently lack adequate tools to incorporate emojis into their analyses. To address this gap, we used over 3 million Twitter posts from a period of 17 months and emotion ratings provided by 2,230 human raters to develop and validate the Multidimensional Lexicon of Emojis (MLE).

Background: With hundreds of pain management apps on the Canadian marketplace, it can be challenging for patients and clinicians to select effective and evidence-based mobile health (mHealth) apps that address pain from a biopsychosocial perspective.

Aims: The aim of this study is to identify pain management apps within the Canadian app marketplaces to aid clinicians in recommending apps.

Methods: The iOS and Android marketplaces were systematically searched to identify pain management apps that included at least one core component of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) or mindfulness- and acceptance-based therapies.

Introduction: Radical hysterectomy (RH) with bilateral pelvic lymph node dissection is the standard treatment for early stage cervical cancer which can be performed either by an abdominal or a minimally invasive (MIS) approach. In 2018, Ramirez et al. presented their randomized-controlled trial data which demonstrated that patients who were treated with minimally invasive surgical (MIS) radical hysterectomy (RH) had higher rates of locoregional disease recurrence and lower rates of overall survival when compared to patients treated with an abdominal approach.
