Hemostatic Resuscitation in Peripartum Hysterectomy Pre- and Postmassive Transfusion Protocol Initiation.

 Massive transfusion protocols (MTPs) have been examined in trauma. The exact ratio of packed red blood cells (PRBC) to other blood replacement components in hemostatic resuscitation in obstetrics has not been well defined.  The objective of this study was to evaluate hemostatic resuscitation in peripartum hysterectomy comparing pre- and postinstitution of a MTP.

A review of oral labetalol and nifedipine in mild to moderate hypertension in pregnancy.

Hypertension is the most commonly encountered medical condition in pregnancy, contributing significantly to maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. Mild to moderate hypertension in pregnancy is defined as systolic blood pressure of 140-159 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure of 90-109 mmHg (7-9% of pregnancies). When treating hypertension in pregnancy, not only do physiologic changes of pregnancy have an effect on the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of the drugs used, but the pathophysiology of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy also have an effect.

High risk human papillomavirus at entry to prenatal care and risk of preeclampsia.

Objective: To determine the association between high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) and preeclampsia.

Methods: Retrospective cohort study of women with HR-HPV at entry to prenatal care compared with those with at least 2 normal pap smears. Preeclampsia was defined by clinical guidelines.
