Stratification of Risk Factors of Complications Associated with Peritoneal Dialysis Catheter Placement.

Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is a frequent method for renal replacement therapy in pediatric population. However, PD is associated with a high incidence of early and late complications. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the perioperative factors associated with these complications.

[Approaching the concept of mental health for indigenous peoples in Colombia].

This study sought to perceive the concept of mental health from the perspective of Colombian indigenous peoples. A qualitative survey from a historic-hermeneutical standpoint was conducted by means of interviews with a stratified intentional sample of 10 leaders with experience in indigenous mental health. After being duly transcribed, interview materials were analyzed using a grounded theory approach.

Hepatitis C Screening in an Underserved U.S. Cohort of Reproductive Age Women.

The opioid epidemic has recently increased the rates of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection among young women. We therefore aimed to characterize the cascade of HCV care in a cohort of underserved women of reproductive age. Medical records of 19,121 women between the ages of 15 and 44 years, receiving primary care in the San Francisco safety-net health care system, were reviewed.

Advantages of Robotic Right Colectomy With Intracorporeal Anastomosis.

Through retrospective review of consecutive charts, we compare the short-term and long-term clinical outcomes after robotic-assisted right colectomy with intracorporeal anastomosis (RIA) (n=89) and laparoscopic right colectomy with extracorporeal anastomosis (LEA) (n=135). Cohorts were similar in demographic characteristics, comorbidities, pathology, and perioperative outcomes (conversion, days to flatus and bowel movement, and length of hospitalization). The RIA cohort experienced statistically significant: less blood loss, shorter incision lengths, and longer specimen lengths than the LEA cohort.

Focal arterial injuries of the proximal extremities: helical CT arteriography as the initial method of diagnosis.

Purpose: To present our experience with helical computed tomographic (CT) arteriography as the initial diagnostic examination in patients suspected to have focal arterial injuries of the proximal extremities.

Materials And Methods: During 19 months, 142 arterial segments in the proximal portions of the extremities of 139 patients with trauma were evaluated with helical CT arteriography. CT arteriograms were interpreted on site by the radiologist in charge of emergency procedures and retrospectively with consensus interpretation between two radiologists.
