Pre-saccal obstructions of the lacrimal duct can be solved with a conjunctivodacryocystorhinostomy while saccal or post-saccal obstructions are restored with an external, endoscopic or laser dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR). The aim of the present study is to review the indications for each technique and to compare the results achieved. Purpose: The aim of this study is to propose a classification for patients with recurrent head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) treated with salvage surgery based on the location of the primary tumor and data commonly found in the pathological report of the resection.
Methods: Retrospective study of 665 patients with HNSCC treated with a salvage surgery after a local and/or regional recurrence of the tumor.
Results: We propose a new postoperative classification for patients with recurrent HNSCC treated with salvage surgery.
Purpose: Glucose is the main energy substrate of tumor cells. This study aims to assess whether the transcriptional expression of glucose metabolism-related genes is associated with occult lymph node metastases in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) patients.
Methods: We examined the transcriptional expression of a panel of glucose metabolism-related genes in a cohort of 53 patients with HNSCC without cervical lymph node involvement at the time of diagnosis (cN0) and subsequently treated with elective neck dissection.

Occasionally in imaging scans there are findings unrelated to the pathology for which the scan was indicated, findings that are called incidentalomas. Warthin tumors have a high glucose avidity, being one of the common incidentalomas in PET-CT scans. The aim of the present study is to analyze the frequency of occurrence of Warthin's tumor as an incidental finding in a large series of patients undergoing 18F-FDG PET-CT.

However, dysfunction in the tightly regulated mechanisms of TLR4-mediated signaling leads to the uncontrolled upregulation of local and systemic inflammation, often resulting in acute or chronic disease. Therefore, the TLR4/MD-2 receptor complex is an attractive target for the design and development of anti-inflammatory therapies which aim to control the unrestrained activation of TLR4-mediated signaling.

Objective: To analyse the trend in the percentage of patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN) of female gender over the last decades, and differences in survival according to gender.

We use these measurements to infer the moment of inertia, the quadrupole moment, and the surface eccentricity of an isolated neutron star for the first time, using relations between these quantities that are insensitive to the unknown equation of state of supranuclear matter. We also use these results to forecast the moment of inertia of neutron star A in the double pulsar binary J0737-3039, a quantity anticipated to be directly measured in the coming decade with radio observations.
