Background: Analysis of temporal trends of urinary diversion (UD) and identification of predictive factors for continent urinary diversion (CUD) in patients with bladder cancer (BC) is scarce and data on large cohorts are missing. We aimed to describe longitudinal temporal trends and predictive factors for UD among patients with BC receiving radical cystectomy (RC).
Patients And Methods: We retrospectively analysed institutional data collected from patients undergoing RC from 1986 to 2022 to describe changes in patients' characteristics and UD.
Hypospadias is one of the morphological and functional alterations of the internal urogenital organs under the influence of androgen deficiency. In the time period 1974-1998 a total of 823 cases of hypospadias were surgically treated and the findings of the preoperative X-ray diagnostics with micturating cystourethrogram (MCU) and urethrocystogram (UCG) as well as urethrocystoscopy were analyzed. A caudal migration of the verumontanum could be detected in 55% of cases with hypospadias (453/823) and in 79% (322/403) of middle grade (penoscrotal) and high grade (scrotoperineal) cases of hypospadias.

This study was performed to identify preoperative values predictive of pathological and oncological outcomes based on standardized extended prostate biopsies with core histological results diagrammed/mapped in patients receiving radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer clinically diagnosed as localized or locally advanced disease.
Methods: In 124 patients with clinically localized or locally advanced prostate cancer (cT1c-cT3a) without prior treatment, pathological outcomes on the surgical specimen including seminal vesicle involvement (SVI), positive surgical margin (PSM), and perineural invasion (PNI) were studied in comparison with clinical parameters based on the results of 14-core prostate biopsies comprising sextant, laterally-directed sextant, and bilateral transition zone (TZ) sampling.
Purpose: Bladder pain syndrome/interstitial cystitis (BPS/IC) is associated with urothelial lesions. Pathomechanisms of urothelial damage and factors for urothelial restoration are unknown. hCG is a factor for cellular differentiation, angiogenesis and immune competence of the endometrium during pregnancy.

Methods: This study investigated postmortem mesenteric arteries from aged subjects (n=21). Four atherosclerotic stages were defined by signs of degeneration and inflammation in sections stained with Elastica-van-Gieson and immunohistology, respectively.
Background: The kinetics and reproducibility of serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) following extended multisite biopsies are unknown. The aim of this study was to examine the kinetics of hematogenous leakage of PSA molecules by comparing the postintervention PSA manner among extended biopsies, transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and biopsy plus TURP.
Methods: Total and free PSA values were examined before and sequentially after intervention (at 1 hour, 24 hours, 2 days, 14 days, and 28 days), in patients who underwent 14-core prostate biopsy (Biopsy, n = 53), TURP (TURP, n = 21), or prostate biopsy plus TURP (Biopsy+TURP, n = 18).
It is well known that surgical procedures are followed by different complications, connected with nerve injury at the site of wound. In case of complete lesion due to nerve suturing or nerve interposition the prognosis remains questionable and may be complicated by neuroma later on. The symptoms of nerve damage are Causalgia (in case of combined with lesion of Nn.

Patients And Methods: The outcome of 24 patients with continent cutaneous urinary diversions using colon segments (Mainz pouch III) was investigated retrospectively. Overall, 22 of the patients had a malignant disease and two a benign disease; 16 had a hysterectomy and pelvic exenteration for gynaecological tumours; two men with a rhabdomyosarcoma of the prostate had a radical cystoprostatectomy; one woman had pelvic exenteration for bladder cancer; one man had a simultaneous rectum resection due to infiltrating rectal cancer, and another a left nephrectomy with cystectomy for concomitant kidney and bladder tumour.
Objective: To estimate the morphological suitability of human connective tissue structures from different regions as graft material in Peyronie's disease, and to present preliminary results from 12 patients with grafting of corporal bodies using autologous rectus sheath.
Patients And Methods: In five male cadavers the penile tunica albuginea was compared with the dorsal lamina of the rectus sheath, the palmar aponeurosis, the iliotibial tract and the Achilles tendon by using histological sections stained with haematoxylin and eosin, Crossmon's trichrome stain and resorcin-fuchsin. Surgical results and complication rates were investigated in 12 patients with Peyronie's disease after grafting the corporal bodies with autologous rectus sheath to correct their penile curvature.
Unlabelled: The tubularized-incised plate urethroplasty has traditionally been used in children for repairing hypospadias. As shown here, it can also be used successfully in adults, with very good results. The rate of wound healing, infection and complications is the same as in children, as are the cosmetic and functional outcomes.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 132 patients who underwent buccal mucosa onlay graft for hypospadias repair, including 34 who underwent "salvage" grafting, during a 10-year period at our institution. In 49 cases with available followup longer than 5 years (average 6.
Objectives: To evaluate our patients who were treated with ventral buccal mucosa onlay grafts for open urethral stricture repair with a follow-up exceeding 5 years. Buccal mucosa onlay is widely used for urethral reconstruction; however, the long-term outcome of these patients remains unclear.
Methods: During the past 10 years, 67 patients underwent ventral buccal mucosa onlay graft surgery for urethral stricture repair.
Objectives: To evaluate methylene blue fiber staining as a method of nerve fiber identification in an animal model, because the maintenance of organ function after surgery depends on exact intraoperative identification of the relevant nerve fibers.
Methods: Brindley electrodes were implanted bilaterally at S3 for sacral anterior root stimulation in six minipigs. For reference, stimulation-induced detrusor contractions were recorded urodynamically.
Objective: To report the long-term results with the Mainz Pouch II procedure.
Patients And Methods: Between 1990 and 2000 a Mainz Pouch II ureterosigmoidostomy was used in 123 patients (49 females and 74 males, mean age 43.6 years, range: 1-73).
Objective: To retrospectively analyse the outcome of children with rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) of the bladder, prostate or vagina who were treated with chemotherapy, with or without radical surgery or additional radiotherapy, at our institution since 1968.
Patients And Methods: From a total of 107 children with RMS seen between 1968 and December 2001, 22 (mean age 5.9, range 0.
Purpose: Previous studies demonstrate a positive correlation between postoperative survival and the extent of pelvic lymphadenectomies in patients with bladder cancer. However, the distribution of nodal metastases has not been examined in sufficient detail. Therefore, we conducted a comprehensive prospective analysis of lymph node metastases to obtain precise knowledge about the pattern of lymphatic tumor spread.

Methods: A total of 37 patients with papillary transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder underwent transurethral en bloc resection with the use of a flat loop electrode.
