Aqueous Zn-ion batteries (AZIBs), being safe, inexpensive, and pollution-free, are a promising candidate for future large-scale sustainable energy storage. However, in a conventional AZIBs setup, the Zn metal anode suffers oxidative corrosion, side reactions with electrolytes, disordered dendrite growth during operation, and consequently low efficiency and short lifespan. In this work, we discover that purging CO gas into the electrolyte could address these issues by eliminating dissolved O, inhibiting side reactions by buffering the local pH change, and preventing dendrite growth by inducing the in situ formation of a ZnCO solid electrolyte interphase layer.

Interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase 3 (IRAK3) is a pseudokinase mediator in the human inflammatory pathway, and ablation of its function is associated with enhanced antitumor immunity. Ibrutinib positively modulates many T-cell subsets in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). To understand ibrutinib's effects on the broader landscape of immune cell populations, we comprehensively characterized changes in circulating counts of 21 immune blood cell subsets throughout the first year of treatment in patients with relapsed/refractory (R/R) CLL (n = 55, RESONATE) and previously untreated CLL (n = 50, RESONATE-2) compared with untreated age-matched healthy donors (n = 20). Cobalt oxide (CoO) delivers a poor capacity when applied in large-sized alkali metal-ion systems such as potassium-ion batteries (KIBs). Achieving large-sized and thinly layered 2D metal phosphorus trichalcogenides with high quality and yield has been an urgent quest due to extraordinary physical/chemical characteristics for multiple applications. Nevertheless, current preparation methodologies suffer from uncontrolled thicknesses, uneven morphologies and area distributions, long processing times, and inferior quality. Here, a sonication-free and fast (in minutes) electrochemical cathodic exfoliation approach is reported that can prepare large-sized (typically ≈150 µm ) and thinly layered (≈70% monolayer) NiPS flakes with high crystallinity and pure phase structure with a yield ≈80%.

The collection of pre-, peri- and postoperative data took place between 2005 and 2008, based on a contract between the social insurance company, AOK Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and the outpatient cataract surgeons/centers in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. Phacoemulsification, a common treatment for cataract, is accompanied by cell damage at the corneal endothelium. Thermal exposure during treatment has been considered a reason for this damage, but a thorough experimental and theoretical assessment of the local temperature distribution inside the eye had not yet been conducted.
