We report on a pilot study exploring whether blood immune signatures can reveal early specific indicator profiles for patients meeting sepsis criteria upon hospital admission. We analysed samples of sepsis-suspected patients (N=20) and age-spanning healthy controls (N=12), using flow cytometry-based assays. We measured inflammatory markers from plasma fractions, and immunophenotyped freshly isolated unfixed PBMCs for leukocytes subsets representation and expression of activation markers, including chemokine receptors.

Yet, protection benefits only come into effect when an MPA is implemented with activated regulations and actively managed through continuous monitoring and adaptive management. To assess if actively managed MPAs are the rule or the exception, we used the Mediterranean and Black Seas as a case study, and retrieved information on monitoring activities for 878 designated MPAs in ten European Union (EU) countries.

Design, Setting, Participants: Prospective study of women with invasive or high grade in situ breast cancer and unknown germline status discussed at the Parkville Breast Service (Melbourne) multidisciplinary team meeting. Women were recruited to the pilot (12 June 2020 - 22 March 2021) and expansion phases (17 October 2021 - 8 November 2022) of the Mutational Assessment of newly diagnosed breast cancer using Germline and tumour genomICs (MAGIC) study.
Importance: Pregnant women who have epilepsy need adequate engagement, information, and pregnancy planning and management to improve pregnancy outcomes.
Objective: To investigate perinatal outcomes in women with epilepsy compared with women without epilepsy.
Data Sources: Ovid MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, and PsycINFO were searched with no language or date restrictions (database inception through December 6, 2022).
Aim: To report incidence, demographic and clinical characteristics, and symptom outcome of functional neurological disorder (FND) in children.
Method: Children diagnosed with FND at a regional children's hospital were prospectively recruited by weekly active surveillance for 36 months. Demographic, clinical, and follow-up data were retrospectively extracted by review of electronic records.

Aims: To describe the aetiologies of paediatric rhabdomyolysis and explore the medium-term renal consequences.
Methods: Retrospective, single-centre review of children with rhabdomyolysis.
Results: Two hundred and thirty-two children met inclusion criteria for the analysis.
Cell surface protein trafficking is regulated in response to nutrient availability, with multiple pathways directing surface membrane proteins to the lysosome for degradation in response to suboptimal extracellular nutrients. Internalized protein and lipid cargoes recycle back to the surface efficiently in glucose-replete conditions, but this trafficking is attenuated following glucose starvation. We find that cells with either reduced or hyperactive phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) activity are defective for endosome to surface recycling.

The kinetics of aquation and stability of the active species have been studied, showing that the chlorido ligand is substituted by water at 298 K with first order rate constants of 10-2-10-3 s-1, ideal for potential clinical use as anti-tumour agents. Strong interactions with biologically relevant duplex and quadruplex DNA models correlate with the activity observed with A549, A2780 and 293T cell lines, and the degree of activity was found to be sensitive to the chelating diphosphine ligand.
