Background: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a major cause of respiratory illness, with younger infants at greatest risk of hospitalisation. With the recent approval of a maternal RSV vaccine in Australia, it is timely to evaluate its potential costs and health benefits in Australia.
Methods: We applied an integrated dynamic and economic evaluation model to estimate specific outcomes of RSV disease and the cost-effectiveness of a year-round maternal RSV vaccination program in Australia.
This study examines the correlation between time-in-therapeutic range (TTR) and anticoagulation-related adverse events (AEs) in patients with atrial fibrillation (Afib) in a pharmacist-managed ambulatory care clinic. A single-center, retrospective cohort study was conducted at a community hospital-based outpatient anticoagulation clinic to investigate the predictive value of suboptimal TTR percentages for hemorrhagic or thromboembolic events in Afib patients. Eligible participants were aged 18 years or older, diagnosed with Afib, and receiving warfarin therapy as current or past enrollees in the anticoagulation management program.

From 10 to 13th September 2024, IVIR-AC convened virtually for its second of two semi-annual meetings to provide feedback and recommendations across six sessions including: pneumococcal vaccination strategies that rely on indirect protection; vaccine impact modeling for chikungunya; The Lancet Commission on strengthening the use of epidemiological modeling of emerging and pandemic infectious diseases; methods for immunization coverage estimation; setting immunization research priorities in the South-East Asian Region; and modeling evidence related to typhoid conjugate vaccine schedules. This report summarizes the sessions, proceedings, and recommendations from that meeting.

The literature suggests that research practices vary widely, making it difficult to draw conclusions about the public health burden of, effective interventions for, or policy implications relevant to NES. We provide evidence to contradict such claims.
