Introduction: Patients referred to tertiary cancer centers often present with imaging studies performed and interpreted at other health care institutions. Although reinterpretation of imaging performed at another health care institution can reduce repeat imaging, unnecessary radiation dose, and cost, the benefit is uncertain. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the quality of initial imaging studies of patients seeking a second opinion at a tertiary cancer center, to compare the accuracy of initial interpretations to reinterpretations performed by subspecialty trained radiologists at a tertiary oncologic center, and to determine the potential impact on patient management.

Methods: We queried the electronic medical record for patients who had resection of the diaphragm and simultaneous pulmonary resection between 1999 and 2016. All reconstructions were performed with either polytetrafluoroethylene or acellular dermal matrix.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to identify patients with esophageal cancer who may benefit from induction chemotherapy (IC) before neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) on the basis of a prognostic scoring model.
Methods: Between 1998 and 2015, 535 patients with esophageal cancer who underwent nCRT were included for analysis, including 218 patients who received IC before nCRT (IC group) and 317 patients who did not receive IC (non-IC group). A prognostic scoring model was developed to predict disease-free survival (DFS) on the basis of a Cox proportional hazards model.
Levels of circulating cytokines are elevated in inflammatory diseases. Previously, it was shown that interleukin (IL-)17A, in synergism with 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D [1,25(OH)D] and tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα), induces the release of granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) by murine osteoblasts in vitro. Patients received induction chemotherapy with fluorouracil (650 mg/m/d), cisplatin (15 mg/m/d), and paclitaxel (200 mg/m/d) for two cycles followed by concurrent chemoradiation consisting of 50.

The aim of this study was to evaluate survival after esophagectomy alone for confirmed submucosal tumors after endoscopic resection.
Methods: Patients from seven centers in the USA who underwent esophagectomy for submucosal tumors removed with endoscopic resection were analyzed.
Purpose: The purpose of our study was to determine the value of F-FDG PET before and after induction chemotherapy in patients with oesophageal adenocarcinoma for the early prediction of a poor pathologic response to subsequent preoperative chemoradiotherapy (CRT).
Methods: In 70 consecutive patients receiving a three-step treatment strategy of induction chemotherapy and preoperative chemoradiotherapy for oesophageal adenocarcinoma, F-FDG PET scans were performed before and after induction chemotherapy (before preoperative CRT). SUV, SUV, metabolic tumour volume (MTV), and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) were determined at these two time points.
