Despite the established risk posed by these exposures, the mechanistic link between inhalants, lung inflammation, and inflammatory arthritis remains poorly understood, partly from the lack of a suitable experimental model. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate possible cytotoxic effects of thermoplastic materials commonly used for occlusal splints and orthodontic appliances.
Methods: Seven thermoplastics were included: three variants of the Essix sheets (C+, Plus, and Tray Rite; Dentsply Sirona), three thermoplastics (Bleach Heavy, Splint, and X-Heavy; Cavex Holland) and Invisalign (Align Technology). Cylindrical specimens (n = 24; 10 mm diameter) were incubated in cell culture medium for 24 h and 14 days.

Objective: To determine the impact of different asthmagens on the characteristics of OA, with a focus on the occurrence of prior or concomitant skin disorders.
Methods: In a retrospective analysis of patients who visited the Occupational and Environmental Disease Clinic of a tertiary referral hospital from 2009 to 2019, we classified patients into definite, probable, or possible OA according to prespecified diagnostic guidelines.
The unique physicochemical properties of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) make them useful in a wide range of sectors, increasing their propensity for human exposure, as well as the need for thorough toxicological assessment. The biodistribution of silver, hematological parameters and GSH/GSSG levels in the lung and liver were studied in mice that were intratracheally instilled with AgNP (5 and 50 nm) and AgNO once a week for 5 weeks, followed by a recovery period of up to 28 days (dpi). We systematically extracted data from publication on PubMed and Embase database up to the year 2020, and analyzed in vitro and in vivo neurotoxicity of 4 of the most well studied NPs (silver NPs, carbon-based NPs, iron NPs and silica NPs). A relatively good correlation was observed between in vitro and in vivo effects, including genotoxicity, oxidative stress, apoptosis and pro-inflammatory effects.
