Article Synopsis
  • This study assessed the use of petroleum sludge (PS) for hydrogen production through the gasification process using nickel-loaded catalysts (Ni-ZSM-5 and Ni-Al).
  • The 10%Ni-ZSM-5 catalyst outperformed 5%Ni-Al in terms of gas yield and hydrogen selectivity due to better metal-support interactions, with the highest gas yield (73.18 wt%) and hydrogen selectivity (33.15 vol%) achieved at 850 °C.
  • The 10%Ni-ZSM-5 catalyst demonstrated good stability and could be effectively regenerated after multiple uses, maintaining its activity and selectivity.

Article Synopsis
  • Nickel-loaded perovskite oxides catalysts were created for steam gasification of swine manure to produce hydrogen-rich syngas, with unique configurations based on various support materials (X = Ce, Sr, La, Ba, Ca, and Fe).
  • The catalysts showed efficient performance with increasing gas yield rates for different perovskite supports, and all variants maintained zero coke formation, signifying good oxygen mobility.
  • The best hydrogen selectivity (∼48 vol%) was achieved with 10% Ni/CaTiO, attributed to the synergistic effects of nickel, titanium, and calcium that enhanced the water-gas shift reaction while minimizing catalyst deactivation.
