A biomedically enriched collection of 7000 human ORF clones.

We report the production and availability of over 7000 fully sequence verified plasmid ORF clones representing over 3400 unique human genes. These ORF clones were derived using the human MGC collection as template and were produced in two formats: with and without stop codons. Thus, this collection supports the production of either native protein or proteins with fusion tags added to either or both ends.

The full-ORF clone resource of the German cDNA Consortium.

Background: With the completion of the human genome sequence the functional analysis and characterization of the encoded proteins has become the next urging challenge in the post-genome era. The lack of comprehensive ORFeome resources has thus far hampered systematic applications by protein gain-of-function analysis. Gene and ORF coverage with full-length ORF clones thus needs to be extended.

Bovine immunoglobulins following induced parturition.

Immunoglobulins in colostrum that are absorbed into the calf's blood were studied in cows in which parturition was induced by corticosteroids 3 to 22 days before expected full-term calving. The colostral and calf serum concentrations of IgG were not different from those in cows and their calves at full-term calving. Colostral IgG content decreased precipitously between 2 and 12 hours postpartum in both groups of cows.

The migration test on circulating bovine leukocytes and its possible application in the diagnosis of Johne's disease.

The leukocyte migration test for in vitro studies of delayed type hypersensitivity has recently been reviewed ( 1967; 1969). applied the test to circulating leukocytes in man and thereby widely increased the potentialities of this test. They obtained high leukocyte yields with only moderate erythrocyte admixture by harvesting the supernatant plasma after sedimentation of the erythrocytes for 60 min.
