Retrospective multicenter analysis of the Trenza Embolization Device for endovascular therapy of intracranial aneurysms: initial results and short-term follow-up.

Background: Intrasaccular devices are increasingly used in endovascular therapy of intracranial aneurysms, in particular wide-necked and ruptured aneurysms. The Trenza Embolization Device (TED) is an innovative intrasaccular device for medium- to large-sized aneurysms. Currently, literature about the TED is scarce.

Identification of cofactors influencing hypertrophy of the future liver remnant after portal vein embolization-the effect of collaterals on embolized liver volume.

Objective: The purpose of this retrospective study was to monitor hypertrophy of future liver remnant following portal vein embolization (PVE) before planned extended right hepatectomy. However, because individual responses to PVE are highly variable, our focus was to identify cofactors of successful hypertrophy.

Methods: 28 patients with primary or secondary liver tumours, mean age 64.

Central nervous system involvement in adults with epidemic hemolytic uremic syndrome.

Hemolytic uremic syndrome is a multisystem disorder that is caused by infection with Shiga-toxin-producing Escherichia coli. HUS affects mainly children and is rare among adults. This retrospective case series analyzes clinical signs and MR imaging findings of 11 adult patients with HUS associated nervous system involvement during the epidemic EHEC outbreak in northern Europe with its epicenter in Hamburg in May 2011.

Transcranial grey-scale sonography of subdural haematoma in adults.

Aim: Transcranial high-resolution grey-scale sonography reliably allows diagnosis and monitoring of subdural haematoma (SDH) and extra-cerebral intracranial fluid collections in infants but has not been evaluated thoroughly in adults up to now. Because of rapid development of ultrasound systems, the depiction of intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH) has now become feasible. The presented study evaluated the sonographic appearance of SDH in adults.
