Introduction: Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a rare genetic bone disorder, mainly caused by autosomal dominant mutations of the COL1A1 or COL1A2 genes that encode the alpha chains of type 1 collagen. In severe forms and in nonambulatory patients, for whom physical exercise is difficult, exposing the bone to mechanical stimuli by promoting movement, especially with physiotherapy and mobility aids, is an essential part of clinical practice. However, the effects of mechanical stimulation at the cellular level remain unknown for this disease.

Twelve rats were assigned randomly to either the control ( = 4) or CLAI group ( = 8). Surgery was performed on the right ankle.

Biomimetic scaffolds are a promising approach to fulfill the requirements. Bone allografts are widely used scaffolds due to their mechanical and structural characteristics.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe mechanical properties of bone tissue are the result of a complex process involving collagen-crystal interactions. The mineral density of the bone tissue is correlated with bone strength, whereas the characteristics of collagen are often associated with the ductility and toughness of the bone. From a clinical perspective, bone mineral density alone does not satisfactorily explain skeletal fragility.

They provide support and create a physiological environment for cells to proliferate and differentiate. Bone allografts extracted from human donors are promising scaffolds due to their mechanical and structural characteristics.

Two anastomoses were used to establish a biliary bypass using the gallbladder as a conduit by a senior hepato-biliary surgeon. Between 2013 and 2019, 11 patients (five men and six women) with a mean age of 61.

Paracecal hernia is rarely associated with ischemia and has seldom been reported in the few published studies in the review literature. We present a case of incarcerated paracecal hernia with intestinal obstruction that was effectively treated with laparoscopic intervention. A 64-year-old woman who had not previously undergone any intestinal surgery arrived complaining of abdominal pain and vomiting at our hospital.

A 61-year-old man was admitted to our hospital after abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea. Computed tomography showed a hollow visceral perforation with intraperitoneal air and two pseudocysts close to the pancreas.

Methods: A total of 80 stomach cancer cases and 146 controls were recruited in a hospital-based case-control study. Data on sociodemographic, anthropometric characteristics, tobacco smoking, and the dietary pattern was obtained based on a semi-quantitative food frequency and demographic lifestyle questionnaire; and venous anti-Helicobacter pylori IgG antibodies were tested by ELISA.
Objective: This study aims to examine the joint effect of H. pylori infection and tobacco smoking on the development of stomach cancer among Vietnamese men.
Methods: A total of 80 stomach cancer cases and 146 controls were recruited in a case-control study conducted in a general hospital.
Objective: To examine the association between dietary intake of Trans-Lycopene and β-Cryptoxanthin and stomach cancer in Vietnamese men.
Methods: A case-control study including 80 male incident stomach cancer cases and 146 male controls was performed in a general hospital in Viet Nam. A validated semi-quantitative food frequency (SQFFQ) and demographic lifestyle questionnaire were designed, and venous blood samples were collected to determine H.
Introduction: Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) presents with difficulty in intubation, restricted ventilatory abnormalities, and frequent cardiac involvement. However, with improvements in anaesthesiology and surgical expertise, laparoscopic cholecystectomy can be extended to individuals with kyphoscoliosis caused by AS.
Case Presentation: We report the case of a 68-year-old man who had severe AS for more than 30 years following necrosis acute cholecystitis.
Background: In more than 50% of cases, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) lesions lead to post-traumatic osteoarthritis. Ligament reconstruction stabilizes the joint, but the tear seems to impair the poroelasticity of the cartilage: synovial membrane fluid inflammation is observed 3 weeks after tearing. There have been some descriptions of visible cartilage changes, but poroelasticity has never been analyzed at this early stage.

We provide our experience with laparoscopic-assisted pancreaticoduodenectomy (LAPD) with statistics on the outcomes of periampullary cancer patients.
Material And Method: Thirty patients underwent surgery between June 1, 2016 and May 30, 2020, with 21 undergoing classical PD and 9 undergoing pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy (PPPD).
Background: Laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy (LPD) is a less invasive alternative to the traditional open pancreaticoduodenectomy (OPD) approach used to treat periampullary tumors. However, previous studies examining the advantages of this surgery over OPD have produced mixed results. Here, a retrospective observational approach was used to compare the short- and long-term outcomes of patients with periampullary tumors who underwent LPD or OPD at a single institution in Vietnam.

Presentation Of Case: We report a case of a 52-years old male who had undergone Segment 5 (S5) hepatectomy for HCC of 4.
Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), also known as "brittle bone disease", is a rare genetic disorder of the skeleton, whose most benign form I corresponds to autosomal dominant mutations in the genes encoding type I collagen (COLA1, COLA2). Several associated skeletal manifestations are often observed but, surprisingly, while dentin defects often reflect genetic bone disorders, about half of OI patients have no obvious oral manifestations. Here, we investigated the collagen, mineral and mechanical properties of dentin from deciduous teeth collected from patients with mild form of OI and displaying no obvious clinical signs of dentinogenesis imperfecta.

Skin and bone share similarities in terms of biochemical composition. Some authors have hypothesized that their properties could evolve concomitantly with age, allowing the estimation of the parameters of one from those of the other. We performed a systematic review of studies reporting the correlation between skin and bone parameters in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Medial femoral condyles of six healthy rabbits (control group) and of six ACLT rabbits 6 weeks after OA induction were explanted.

However, there is very limited work studying mechanics of all tissues from the same donor which prevents a complete understanding of the abdominal wall behavior and the differences in these tissues. The aim of this study was to investigate the differences between the mechanical properties of the linea alba and the anterior and posterior rectus sheaths from a macroscopic point of view.

Background: To investigate the effect of intra-articular injection of Chitosan (Cs) added to hyaluronic acid (HA) on subchondral bone during osteoarthritis (OA), microarchitectural parameters and mineral density were measured in a rabbit model of early OA. A novel hybrid hydrogel adding reacetylated Cs of fungal origin to HA was compared to high molecular weight HA commercial formulation.
Method: Eighteen rabbits underwent unilateral anterior cruciate ligament transection (ACLT) and were divided into three groups (Saline-group, HA-group and Hybrid-group) depending on the intra-articular injection compound.
