Background: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is positively associated with the prevalence and severity of psoriasis. The fibrosis-4 (FIB-4) index was developed to predict significant liver fibrosis. Using the FIB-4 index, the present study evaluated screening data for liver fibrosis, including MASLD, in patients with refractory psoriasis treated with biologics.

We aimed to evaluate whether our super-flexible 3D heart models could facilitate preoperative decision-making and surgical simulation for complex CHD. The super-flexible heart models were fabricated by stereolithography 3D printing of the internal and external contours of the heart from cardiac computed tomography (CT) data, followed by vacuum casting with a polyurethane material similar in elasticity to a child's heart.

Two patients with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) concomitant with cor triatriatum underwent the staged Norwood procedure following hybrid palliation. Cor triatriatum was diagnosed after birth in both cases. Case 1 with aortic stenosis and mitral atresia underwent bilateral pulmonary artery banding at 2 days of age.

The presence of a common atrioventricular junction could not be diagnosed preoperatively. Postoperative left-sided atrioventricular valve regurgitation remained mild by complete cleft closure, direct closure of incised atrial septum, and patch augmentation of the underside of septum primum.

Surgical treatments include correction of the nail bed and distal phalanges, which have shown good outcomes but are difficult to perform in general clinics because of their high invasion. Conservative treatments require special devices, which may be difficult to keep on hand in general clinics.

These guidelines were revised in 2015. Herein, we present the English version of the 2021 edition of the Japanese clinical guidelines for BCC.

She underwent VSD closure and muscle bundle resection across right ventricular outflow tract at the age of 3 months. Since then, she had suffered from severe heart failure and complete heart block.

Complications mainly related to respiratory system frequently occur after peripheral pulmonary artery patch augmentation with or without uniforcalization. Pulmonary hemorrhage and airway bleeding can be fatal.

Objective: To identify the late surgical outcomes of truncus arteriosus.
Methods: Fifty consecutive patients with truncus arteriosus who underwent surgery between 1978 and 2020 at our institute were enrolled in this retrospective, single institutional cohort study. The primary outcome was death and reoperation.
Background: We previously analyzed data from blood examination screenings, including serum Krebs von den Lungen (KL) -6 level, before starting biologic treatment for psoriasis in a real-world setting. However, we did not follow change in KL-6 level after the initiation of biologics. Furthermore, there has been no follow-up study of certolizumab pegol, risankizumab, or tildrakizumab.

Background: We previously evaluated blood screening data, including antinuclear antibodies (ANA), before initiating biologic treatment for patients with psoriasis in a real-world setting. However, we did not analyze change in ANA titers after the start of biologics. No previous study has comprehensively investigated change in ANA titers over time in individual patients or the effectiveness of certolizumab pegol or tildrakizumab.

Recent studies have shown that laboratory biomarkers such as peripheral blood neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), monocyte-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), and serum C-reactive protein (CRP) levels are associated with psoriasis or its severity. This study evaluated associations of transition of NLR, PLR, MLR, and CRP with transition of disease activity in psoriasis patients treated with the three categories of biologics.

Methods: Of patients with levo-transposition of the great arteries who underwent biventricular repair between 1978 and 2001, 31 hospital survivors after anatomic repair of atrial switch and the Rastelli (anatomic group) and 14 hospital survivors after physiological repair with left ventricle-to-pulmonary artery conduit (physiological group) were enrolled. Survival rates, reoperation rates, and most recent conditions were compared.
Among human cutaneous malignancies, basal cell carcinoma is the most common. Solid advances in unveiling the molecular mechanisms of basal cell carcinoma have emerged in recent years. In Gorlin syndrome, which shows basal cell carcinoma predisposition, identification of the patched 1 gene (PTCH1) mutation was a dramatic breakthrough in understanding the carcinogenesis of basal cell carcinoma.

Methods: Between 1978 and 2003, 440 patients (aged <10 years) underwent tetralogy of Fallot repair. Of these patients, 242 (55.
The study aimed to investigate the long-term influence of atrial switch on post-Rastelli hemodynamic condition. Of 112 patients with transposition of the great arteries (TGA) or TGA-type double outlet right ventricle, ventricular septal defect (VSD), and pulmonary stenosis (PS) who underwent intra-cardiac repair between 1979 and 2018, 50 patients with levo-TGA underwent atrial switch and Rastelli as an anatomic repair and 62 patients with dextro-TGA underwent Rastelli. Postoperative outcomes were retrospectively compared.
