Trends in minimally invasive and open inguinal hernia repair: an analysis of ACGME general surgery case logs.

Background: Groin hernia repair is one of the most commonly performed surgical procedures and is often performed by surgical interns and junior residents. While traditionally performed open, minimally invasive (MIS) groin hernia repair has become an increasingly popular approach. The purpose of this study was to determine the trends in MIS and open inguinal and femoral hernia repair in general surgery residency training over the past two decades.

Background: Simultaneous free flap breast reconstruction combined with contralateral mastopexy or breast reduction can increase patient satisfaction and minimize the need for a second procedure. Surgeon concerns of increases in operative time, postoperative complications, and final breast symmetry may decrease the likelihood of these procedures being done concurrently. This study analyzed postoperative outcomes of simultaneous contralateral mastopexy or breast reduction with free flap breast reconstruction.

Recurrent early-stage squamous cell carcinoma cervical cancer presenting with isolated ovary metastasis: a rare case report.

Introduction: Ovarian metastatic squamous carcinoma of the cervix is rare, accounting for about 0.4%. This study reports a single case of metastatic recurrent cervical cancer in the ovary.
