Phytochromes are red-light-sensitive biliprotein photoreceptors that control a variety of physiological processes in plants, fungi, and bacteria. Lately, greater attention has been paid to these photoreceptors due to their potential as fluorescent probes for deep-tissue microscopy. Such fluorescing phytochromes have been generated by multiple amino acid substitutions in weakly fluorescent wild-type (WT) proteins.

For cancer, boosting or maintaining the immune system is crucial to prevent tumor growth. However, in vascular disease, mitigating immune responses can decrease inflammation and slow atherosclerosis progression.

Human infection with these bacteria may be food-mediated but has not been fully elucidated. Therefore, we aimed to examine ESBL-producing bacteria in edible river fish and elucidate their potential for horizontal gene transfer.

HDAC6 has been reported as a deacetylase of p53 at multiple lysine residues, associated with the canonical functions of p53, such as apoptosis and tumor suppression. We have previously reported that p53 acetylation at the lysine 320 site accumulates due to the genetic ablation of HDAC6 in mice liver. However, the biological processes affected by K320 acetylation of p53 are yet to be elucidated.

Multiciliated cell specification requires canonical Wnt signaling, which then must be turned off. Next, ciliogenesis and polarized ciliary orientation are regulated by noncanonical Wnt/planar cell polarity (Wnt/PCP) signaling.

Disease losses caused by motile species, particularly , can be challenging in intensive aquaculture, such as at striped catfish () farms in Vietnam. Outbreaks require antibiotic treatments, but their application is undesirable due to risks posed by resistance.

Microbial food contamination poses a serious public health risk; however, there are only a few studies on the prevalence of colistin-resistant Escherichia coli (COL-E) contamination in freshwater fish. This study aimed to characterise the antibiotic resistance genes and antibiotic susceptibility profiles of COL-E in freshwater fish in Vietnam.

MUC5AC (mucin 5AC, oligomeric gel-forming) and MUC5B (mucin 5B, oligomeric gel-forming) are the predominant secreted polymeric mucins in mammalian airways. They contribute differently to the pathogenesis of various muco-obstructive and interstitial lung diseases, and their genes are separately regulated, but whether they are packaged together or in separate secretory granules is not known. To determine the packaging of MUC5AC and MUC5B within individual secretory granules in mouse and human airways under varying conditions of inflammation and along the proximal-distal axis.

The present work is focused on the fabrication and the investigation of microstructures of copperbased TiC nanocomposites produced by mechanical milling in a high energy planetary ball mill. TiH₂, carbon and copper powders were used as starting materials in which reaction between carbon and TiH₂ occurs to form TiC nanoparticles. The mixture powders of Cu-TiH₂-C were milled for 12 h at 450 rpm in Argon gas.

Recognition of EBV-positive DLBCL by radiologists on MRI may prevent unnecessary neurosurgical resection, and it could be important to obtain viable cells for accurate diagnosis on stereotactic biopsy because of extensive necrosis.
Case Description: A 62-year-old woman presented to the emergency department with left hemiparesis grade III and dysarthria lasting for 3 weeks.
T-cell tolerance is a major obstacle to successful cancer immunotherapy; thus, developing strategies to break immune tolerance is a high priority. Here we show that expression of the E3 ubiquitin ligase Grail is upregulated in CD8 T cells that have infiltrated into transplanted lymphoma tumours, and Grail deficiency confers long-term tumour control. Importantly, therapeutic transfer of Grail-deficient CD8 T cells is sufficient to repress established tumours.

Our previous work showed that chronic hypoxia induces the oxygen-sensing enzyme heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) within the C1 sympathoexcitatory region and the pre-Bötzinger complex (pre-BötC). We therefore examined the effect of CIH on time course of induced expression of HO-1 within these regions and determined whether the induction of HO-1 correlated with changes in respiratory, sigh frequency, and sympathetic responses (spectral analysis of heart rate) to acute hypoxia (10% O) during 10 days of exposure to CIH in chronically instrumented awake wild-type (WT) and HO-1 null mice (HO-1).

These can be detected by using an Escherichia coli base excision repair endonuclease to convert their stable end products to strand breaks. The yield of enzyme-sensitive sites is strongly attenuated by the presence of micromolar concentrations of one of a series of singly substituted phenols, and it is possible to derive bimolecular rate constants for the reduction of DNA guanyl radicals by these phenols.
