Resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) is an ideal X-ray spectroscopy method to push the combination of energy and time resolutions to the Fourier transform ultimate limit, because it is unaffected by the core-hole lifetime energy broadening. Also, in pump-probe experiments the interaction time is made very short by the same core-hole lifetime. RIXS is very photon hungry so it takes great advantage from high-repetition-rate pulsed X-ray sources like the European XFEL.

Methods: This is a multicentric retrospective observational case-series. Cases of acute IOI that occurred in 5 different institutions in France and Italy between November 2023 and June 2024 were reported.
Background: After pneumococcal disease and colonization have been controlled through vaccination campaigns, a reduced pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) schedule may be sufficient to sustain that control at reduced costs.
Methods: We investigated whether a single primary dose and booster dose (1p+1) of the 10-valent PCV (PCV10) would be noninferior to alternative dose schedules in sustaining control of carriage of pneumococcal serotypes included in the vaccine. In Nha Trang, Vietnam, an area in which PCV had not been used previously, a PCV10 catch-up campaign was conducted in which the vaccine was offered to children younger than 3 years of age, after which a cluster-randomized trial was conducted in which children received PCV10 at 2, 3, and 4 months of age (3p+0 group); at 2, 4, and 12 months of age (2p+1 group); at 2 and 12 months of age (1p+1 group); or at 12 months of age (0p+1 group).
Breast cancer remains a prevalent global health challenge, with tumor-removal surgeries being among the most common treatments but often leading to aesthetic defects. Adipose-derived stem cell (ADSC)-enriched fat grafting in breast reconstruction offers promising therapeutic benefits. However, concerns about its oncological safety persist, particularly regarding the potential risks of promoting cancer recurrence.

The theoretical computation uses second-order partial differentiation of propagation coordinates to generate microwave field propagation. Consequently, it offers accurate simulation results for any complex refractive index profile.

Conotoxins' ability to target a wide range of ion channels and receptors, including voltage- and ligand-gated ion channels, G protein-coupled receptors, monoamine transporters, and enzyme, at exquisite potency and selectivity make them valuable research and therapeutic tools. Despite their potentials, Conus venom peptides are present in limited quantities in nature and possess structural complexity that raises significant synthetic challenges for both chemical synthesis and recombinant expression.

For the implementation of monitoring strategies, reference intervals (RIs) are needed to know when deviations in those parameters become clinically relevant. Here, haematological and plasma biochemical RIs of Norwegian Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar Linnaeus) are presented for 29 biomarkers.

In this study, we demonstrate that the X-ray standing wave technique allows the surface polarization profile of a ferroelectric thin film, as opposed to the average film polarity, to be probed directly. The X-ray standing wave technique provides the average Ti and Ba atomic positions, along the out-of-plane direction, near the surface of three differently strained [Formula: see text] thin films.

Background: Injuries to the glenoid labrum have been recognized as a source of joint pain and discomfort, which may be associated with the inflammatory responses that lead to the deterioration of labral tissue. However, it is unclear whether the torn labrum prompts mast cell (MC) activation, resulting in synovial inflammatory responses that lead to labral tissue degeneration.
Purpose: To determine the potential influence of activated MC on synovial inflammatory responses and subsequent labral tissue degeneration and shoulder function deterioration in a rat model by monitoring MC behavior and sequential inflammatory responses within the synovial tissue and labral tissue after injury, suture repair, and MC stabilizer administration.

Purpose: Down syndrome (DS) is one of the most prevalent genetic diseases associated with a variety of ophthalmic disorders, including reported retinal abnormalities. Macular telangiectasia type 2 (MacTel 2) is a late-onset neurodegenerative retinal disease with a substantial genetic component. We hereby describe a case of a female with DS who presented with MacTel 2, and we discuss the possible pathways associating both entities.

Introduction: Traffic crashes caused by adolescents are being assessed as particularly serious and a common concern of society as a whole. Improving traffic knowledge and skills is crucial in reducing adolescent traffic crashes.
Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the effects of a gamified e-learning platform on traffic knowledge and skills among adolescents (aged 15-18) in Vietnam.
Background: There is an increase in human subject research in developing countries and conducting them in an ethical manner depends on the research ethics oversight in these countries. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the operational, financial, and educational characteristics of research ethics committees (RECs) at institutions in Vietnam and Laos.
Methods: A validated self-assessment tool designed to assess nine major characteristics of RECs was translated into Vietnamese and Laotian.
Background: Diphtheria is a re-emerging infectious disease and public health concern worldwide and in Vietnam with increasing cases in recent years. This study aimed to assess the anti-diphtheria toxoid antibodies status in Khanh Hoa Province and identify factors contributing to the vaccination policy in the south-central coast of Vietnam.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study to evaluate the seroprevalence of anti-diphtheria toxoid antibodies among 1,195 participants, aged 5 - 40 years in Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam.
Rationale: Gaucher disease (GD), an autosomal recessive lysosomal storage disease, results from GBA1 variants causing glucocerebrosidase (GCase) deficiency. While enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) helps with systemic symptoms, neurological complications in GD2 and GD3 persist due to the blood-brain-barrier (BBB) limiting ERT efficacy. Ambroxol, a BBB-permeable chaperone, enhances GCase activity.

A common approach to solve inverse imaging problems relies on finding a maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimate of the original unknown image, by solving a minimization problem. In this context, iterative proximal algorithms are widely used, enabling to handle non-smooth functions and linear operators. Recently, these algorithms have been paired with deep learning strategies, to further improve the estimate quality.

However, this diversity faces challenges from illegal imports and adulterated products, threatening consumer health and brand integrity. This study employs Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) to analyze 300 vodka samples from five brands collected across Hanoi.

IS605-family TnpB homologs function as programmable RNA-guided homing endonucleases in bacteria, driving transposon maintenance through DNA double-strand break-stimulated homologous recombination. In this work, we uncovered molecular mechanisms of the transposition life cycle of IS607-family elements that, notably, also encode group I introns.

In this report, we introduce a novel idea to prepare a redox additive in a gel polymer electrolyte system of PVA-ZnSO-HSO based on zinc-carbon battery recycling. Here, zinc cans from spent zinc-carbon batteries are dissolved completely in 1 M HSO to obtain a redox additive in an aqueous electrolyte of ZnSO-HSO. Moreover, carbon nanoparticles and graphene nanosheets were synthesized from carbon rod and carbon powder from spent zinc-carbon batteries by only one step of washing and electrochemical exfoliation, respectively, which have good electrochemical capability.
