Multimodality Imaging Supports Cardiac Lesion Diagnosis in Patient With Liver Carcinoma: A Case Report.

Introduction: Nonbacterial thrombotic endocarditis (NBTE) is a rare cardiac manifestation in patients with advanced malignancies of the lungs, pancreas, gynecological system, and gastrointestinal tract. It is often confirmed postmortem by histopathological evidence of sterile platelet-fibrin deposits attached to the endocardium, most often on heart valves. To the best of our knowledge, our case is the first to report multiple heart lesions caused by the systemic effect of cholangiocarcinoma.

Fear and Impact of COVID-19 Among Post-Infected Adults: Types and Associations with Quality of Life and Post-Traumatic Stress Symptoms.

Survivors of COVID-19 are susceptible to diminished health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and adverse psychological health, which may be exacerbated by their experiences of fear and the impact of the pandemic itself. This study aims to identify distinct fear and impact patterns related to the COVID-19 pandemic among survivors through latent profile analysis (LPA) and examine the associations of fear and impact patterns with post-traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) and HRQoL. A total of 5,890 Vietnamese COVID-19 survivors completed the COVID-19 Impact Battery- Disability Scale (CIB-D), the Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCoV-19 S), the Impact of Event Scale-Revised for PTSS, and the 36-Item Short Form Survey (SF-36) for HRQoL.

Quality of Life Among Patients with Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction Receiving Telemedicine Care in Vietnam.

Telemedicine is an effective method to monitor patients at home and improve outcomes of heart failure (HF), especially HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). However, little is known about the impact of telemedicine on the quality of life (QoL) among outpatients with HFrEF in lower-middle-income countries (LMICs). In this single-center, prospective, randomized, controlled, open, and parallel-group clinical trial in northern Vietnam, patients with HFrEF were allocated to either telemedicine or control groups.

Synergistic Effects of Hydroxychloride and Organic Zinc on Performance, Carcass Characteristics, Liver and Tibia Mineral Profiles of Broiler Chickens.

This study investigated the potential synergism between hydroxychloride and organic zinc (Zn) at different levels on performance and carcass characteristics of broiler chickens. There were seven experimental diets including a negative control diet without any supplemental Zn, and six diets with 80 mg/kg added Zn in the forms of ZnSO, hydroxychloride Zn (HCZ) and organic Zn (ORZ), and a combination of HCZ and ORZ at 40 mg/kg HCZ + 40 mg/kg ORZ (HCZ40-ORZ40), 55 mg/kg HCZ + 25 mg/kg ORZ (HCZ55-ORZ25), and 70 mg/kg HCZ + 10 mg/kg ORZ (HCZ70-ORZ10). Each diet was replicated eight times with 17 chicks per replicate.

Efficacy and safety of angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibition in heart failure patients with end-stage kidney disease on maintenance dialysis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Aims: Angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI) has played an increasingly important role in the management of heart failure (HF). However, the evidence on the benefits of ARNI in HF patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) undergoing dialysis is limited. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of ARNI in patients with concomitant HF and ESKD on maintenance dialysis.

Sex Differences in Clustering Unhealthy Lifestyles Among Survivors of COVID-19: Latent Class Analysis.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the significance of adopting healthy lifestyles to mitigate the risk of severe outcomes and long-term consequences.

Objective: This study focuses on assessing the prevalence and clustering of 5 unhealthy lifestyle behaviors among Vietnamese adults after recovering from COVID-19, with a specific emphasis on sex differences.

Methods: The cross-sectional data of 5890 survivors of COVID-19 in Vietnam were analyzed from December 2021 to October 2022.

Pisachini planthoppers of Vietnam: new records of and a new species from Central Vietnam (Hemiptera, Fulgoromorpha, Nogodinidae).

Two planthopper species of the family Nogodinidae are added to the fauna of Vietnam, both from two localities in Thua Thien-Hue Province: Bach Ma National Park and Phong Dien District. The first species belongs to Meng, Wang & Wang, 2014, Constant & Pham, , and the second belongs to Distant, 1906, Meng, Wang & Wang, 2014. was previously recorded from Hainan Island, China.

Impact of long COVID-19 on posttraumatic stress disorder as modified by health literacy: an observational study in Vietnam.

Background: The prevalence of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has increased, particularly among individuals who have recovered from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection. Health literacy is considered a "social vaccine" that helps people respond effectively to the pandemic. We aimed to investigate the association between long COVID-19 and PTSD, and to examine the modifying role of health literacy in this association.

The tropiduchid planthopper genus Wang & Bourgoin, 2015: two new species from Central Vietnam and new records (Hemiptera, Fulgoromorpha, Tropiduchidae).

Two new planthopper species of the tropiduchid genus Wang & Bourgoin, 2015, Constant & Pham, , and Constant & Pham, are described from Bach Ma National Park and from the Centre for Conservation of Vietnam Natural Resources and Rescue of Animals and plants, Phong Dien District in Thua Thien-Hue Province, respectively. These new records greatly extend the distribution of the genus, which was known from southern China (Guangxi) and North Vietnam, to the south, reaching the mid area of Central Vietnam. New records are provided for Wang & Zhang, 2015, extending the distribution of the species from Cat Ba Island to a large zone in North Vietnam.

Relationship between BMI and prognosis of chronic heart failure outpatients in Vietnam: a single-center study.

Background: Insufficient data exists regarding the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and the prognosis of chronic heart failure (CHF) specifically within low- and middle-income Asian countries. The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of BMI on adverse outcomes of ambulatory patients with CHF in Vietnam.

Methods: Between 2018 and 2020, we prospectively enrolled consecutive outpatients with clinically stable CHF in an observational cohort, single-center study.

Progressive alterations of left atrial and ventricular volume and strain across chronic kidney disease stages: a speckle tracking echocardiography study.

Background: It has been a scarcity of evidence regarding differences in left ventricular (LV) and left atrial (LA) size and strain changes across stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and which echocardiographic parameters could be utilized to predict the decline of glomerular filtration rate (GFR).

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the alterations of LV and LA strain across the reduction of renal function and potential echocardiographic parameters which could be correlated with the GFR decline among patients with CKD.

Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 169 CKD patients at Bach Mai General Hospital, Hanoi, Vietnam from April to November 2022.

Prevalence and risk factors of prehypertension/hypertension among freshman students from the Vietnam National University: a cross-sectional study.

Background: Prehypertension (PHT) and hypertension (HTN) in young adults are essential risk factors for other cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in later years of life. However, there is a lack of knowledge about the burden and risk factors of PHT/HTN for Vietnamese youth. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of PHT/HTN and risk factors among university students in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Diagnostic accuracy of two-dimensional and three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography in detecting pannus and thrombus in left mechanical valve obstruction.

Unlabelled: The aim of this study was to determine the accuracy of two-dimensional and three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) in the detection of pannus and thrombus in left mechanical valve obstruction (LMVO) compared with surgical and histopathology findings.

Materials And Methods: Patients with suspected LMVO on transthoracic echocardiography were enrolled consecutively. All patients underwent two-dimensional and three-dimensional TEE, and open-heart surgery to replace obstructed valves.

Multivalvular involvement associated with Libman-Sacks endocarditis detected by multimodality imaging: A case report.

Libman-Sacks endocarditis accounts for 6-11 percent of systemic lupus erythematosus patients and is associated with varying degrees of valvular dysfunction, increased risk for stroke and transient ischemic attacks, and increased mortality. In previous studies, left-sided valvular Libman-Sacks vegetations were more frequently detected than right sided vegetations; reported cases of bilateral involvement is very rare. A comprehensive clinical assessment and the multimodality imaging is of utmost importance in the management of systemic lupus erythematosus.

Cardiac metastasis mimicking STEMI-impact of point-of-care ultrasound on clinical decision-making: A case report.

Introduction: The manifestations of cardiac metastases are extremely variable depending on their location and extension.

Case Presentation: A 62-year-old man was admitted to the cardiac emergency department presenting with chest pain, worsening shortness of breath and palpitations. He had a history of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma treated with chemoradiotherapy, and he was not diagnosed with cardiovascular disease before.

Impacts of COVID-19 crisis and some related factors on the mental health of 37150 Vietnamese students: a cross-sectional online study.

Background: University students are vulnerable to changes due to COVID-19 pandemic. Although warning has been made about the impact of this crisis on students' mental health, there are barely any sufficient study. This work investigated how the pandemic affected the mental health of students at the Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCMC) and efficiency of available mental health supportive methods.

Meta-Analysis on the Safety and Efficacy of Transradial Approach in Chronic Total Occlusion Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.

The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of transradial approach (TRA) in chronic total occlusion (CTO) percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with the efficacy and safety of transfemoral approach (TFA). We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and observational studies (OS) reporting the outcomes of TRA versus TFA in CTO PCI. The primary end point was procedural success.

Concomitant intramyocardial and hepatic hydatid cysts diagnosed by multi-modality imaging: A rare case report.

Cardiac echinococcosis is a potentially fatal form of hydatid disease; yet, its diagnosis and treatment are challenging due to the variability in its clinical manifestations and due to its various unpredictable preoperative complications. Multi-modality imaging is shown to provide important guidance for the treatment and decision-making. We report a rare case of a 50-year-old woman who had concomitant cardiac and hepatic hydatid cysts.

Harmonising Individual Patient Level Cardiac Registry Data Across the Asia Pacific Region-A Feasibility Study of In-Hospital Outcomes of STEMI Patients From the Asia Pacific Evaluation of Cardiovascular Therapies (ASPECT) Network.

Objective: The Asia-Pacific Evaluation of Cardiovascular Therapies (ASPECT) collaboration was established to inform on percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in the Asia-Pacific Region. Our aims were to (i) determine the operational requirements to assemble an international individual patient dataset and validate the processes of governance, data quality and data security, and subsequently (ii) describe the characteristics and outcomes for ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients undergoing PCI in the ASPECT registry.

Methods: Seven (7) ASPECT members were approached to provide a harmonised anonymised dataset from their local registry.

Regional differences in percutaneous coronary intervention outcomes in STEMI patients with diabetes: The Asia-Pacific evaluation of cardiovascular therapies (ASPECT) collaboration.

Background: Diabetes is associated with poorer outcomes and increased complication rates in STEMI patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Data are notably lacking in the Asia-Pacific region. We report the overall association of Diabetes with clinical characteristics and outcomes in STEMI patients undergoing PCI across the Asia-Pacific, with a particular focus on regional differences.

Multimodality imaging in the diagnosis of bioprosthetic aortic valve endocarditis: A case report.

Introduction: Prosthetic valve infective endocarditis (PVE) is a diagnostic challenge even in the era of multimodality cardiovascular imaging.

Case Presentation: The patient was a 67-year-old male with a three-year history of bioprosthetic aortic valve replacement who presented with persistent fever and negative blood cultures. The initial transthoracic echocardiography revealed a thickened aortic root.

Sex differences in quality of life of patients following percutaneous coronary intervention in Vietnam.

Purpose: Data regarding the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in men and women after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in low-and-middle incomes countries remains scarce. To investigate sex difference in the HRQoL at 30 days and 12 months post PCI in Vietnam.

Methods: We used data from a single percutaneous coronary registry established in the Vietnam National Heart Institute.

Sources and levels of copper affect liver copper profile, intestinal morphology and cecal microbiota population of broiler chickens fed wheat-soybean meal diets.

Super dosing copper (Cu) has long been used as an alternative to antibiotic growth-promoters in broiler chickens' diet to improve gut health. This study was designed to compare nutritional and growth-promoting levels of Cu hydroxychloride (CH) with CuSO on gut health bio-markers and liver mineral profile of broiler chickens. Ross 308 chicks (n = 864) were randomly assigned to eight treatments, as basal diet containing no supplemental Cu; the basal diet with 15 or 200 mg/kg Cu as CuSO; or 15, 50, 100, 150 or 200 mg/kg Cu from CH.
