Objective: Meropenem degradation poses a challenge to continuous infusion (CI) implementation. However, data about the impact of degradation on the probability of target attainment (PTA) of meropenem has been limited. This study evaluated the stability of meropenem brands and the consequence of in-bottle degradation on PTA in different environmental scenarios.

This study highlights the differences in the metabolomes of cow milk yoghurt (CY) and goat milk yoghurt (GY) using a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)-based metabolomic approach. The 1H HRMAS-NMR spectrum displayed 21 metabolites comprising organic acids, sugars, amino acids, amino acid derivatives and phospholipids. The orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis model clearly separated CY and GY groups, implying differences in metabolite composition.

In the present work, we propose GaGeX (X = N, P, As) monolayers and explore their structural, vibrational, piezoelectric, electronic, and transport characteristics for multifunctional applications based on first-principles simulations. Our analyses of cohesive energy, phonon dispersion spectra, and molecular dynamics simulations indicate that the three proposed structures have good energetic, dynamic, and thermodynamic stabilities. The GaGeX are found as piezoelectric materials with high piezoelectric coefficient of -1.

This study assessed and compared meat quality and fiber characteristics of (LL), (PM), and muscles among Hanwoo (HW), Jeju black (BL), and their crossbred (BH) cattle. Twelve carcasses from each breed (36 in total) were used in this study. BL and BH had higher moisture and crude ash contents and lower crude fat and protein contents than HW, regardless of the muscle type.

Allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) is the most common chronic inflammatory skin disease (or immune-mediated disease), causing disruption to our psychological condition and life quality. In this study, the therapeutic properties of probiotic () was investigated by using an ACD-induced animal model. For ACD induction, BALB/c mice ear and dorsal skin were sensitized with 240 µL of 1% (/) 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB) twice (3-day intervals).

This study was carried out to assess the quality properties, components associated with taste and aroma of beef as a function of breed. For this purpose, steers from four Korean native cattle breeds: Hanwoo (n=10), Chikso (n=10), black Hanwoo (n=12, BHW) and Jeju black cattle (n=12, JBC) were used. The steers all were raised under identical conditions and finished at a similar age of around 30-months old.

Article Synopsis
  • Key populations (KPs) in Vietnam face challenges accessing HIV services, prompting a study to evaluate the reach and effectiveness of a web-based HIV self-testing (HIVST) intervention.
  • A mixed-methods approach was used, analyzing data from pilot and scale-up phases to measure participant demographics, test ordering, reporting of results, and usage of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).
  • The intervention reached 17,589 participants, mainly young males; however, reported test results decreased during the scale-up phase, though the proportion of females participating increased significantly.

Introduction: Effects of dioxin exposure on gray matter volume have been reported in previous studies, but a few studies reported effects of dioxin exposure on white matter structure. Therefore, this study was undertaken to investigate the impact of dioxin exposure on white matter microstructure in men living in the most severely dioxin-contaminated areas in Vietnam.

Methods: In 2019 brain MRI scans from 28 men living near Bien Hoa airbase were obtained at Dong Nai General Hospital, Vietnam, on a 3 T scanner using a conventional diffusion tensor imaging sequence.

Fine-tuning nanoscale structures, morphologies, and electronic states are crucial for creating efficient water-splitting electrocatalysts. In this study, a method for electronic structure engineering to enhance overall water splitting in a corrosion-resistant electrocatalyst matrix by integrating Pt, P dual-doped NiMo electrocatalysts onto a TiO nanorod grown on carbon cloth (Pt, P-NiMo-TiO/CC) is introduced. By optimizing platinum and phosphorus concentrations to 1.

Fifty-five children aged 2 years from a birth cohort in the largest dioxin-contaminated area in Bien Hoa city, Vietnam participated in this survey to examine gaze behavior. Exposure levels were indicated by 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dibenzodioxin (TCDD) and toxic equivalent of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxin and polychlorinated dibenzofuran (TEQ-PCDD/Fs) levels in maternal breast milk. The percentage of the total fixation duration on the face (% Face), mouth (% Mouth), and eye areas (% Eyes) when viewing silent and conversation scenes was used as gaze behavior indices.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to evaluate chitosan-based coatings as a preservation method for Jeju black cattle (JBC) beef, which is known for its health benefits due to high unsaturated fatty acids (UFA).
  • - Various coating solutions, including chitosan alone and chitosan with different concentrations of gallic acid, were tested on beef stored at 4°C to monitor spoilage and quality indicators over 21 days.
  • - Results showed that the combined chitosan and gallic acid coating significantly reduced spoilage bacteria, lipid oxidation, and discoloration, suggesting its potential as a bio-preservative technique in the meat industry.

The objective of this study was to elucidate the effect of cattle breed on carcass and meat chemical composition, fatty acid profiles, and lipid-metabolism-related genes. For this study, same-age Hanwoo and Chikso steers ( = 6 per breed) reared under identical conditions were used. Immediately after slaughter, muscle tissues were collected for analysis of mRNA expression.

The aim of this study was to compare the meat quality and taste-and-aroma-related components of beef between breeds. For this purpose, Hanwoo and Chikso steers ( = 7 per breed) raised under identical conditions until 30 months old were used. After 24 h of slaughter, (LL) and (SM) muscles were collected and analyzed for technological quality, free amino acids, metabolites, and volatile compounds.

Objective: For decades, LYD ([Landrace×Yorkshire] ♀×Duroc ♂) pigs are the most commonly-used commercial breed for meat production in Korea. Recently, due to the increasing demand for premium pork, the National Institute of Animal Science (Korea) has synthesized a novel pig breed named Woori Heukdon (WHD). This study aimed at comparing the carcass traits, meat yield and quality characteristics between the LYD and WHD pigs under identical rearing condition.

The objectives of this study were to elucidate the effect of different high-concentration levels of inert gases (Ar and N2) on heme-pigment solutions and on the color of the blood, meat, and small intestine of rabbits; and to figure out the proper concentration level of inert gas (Ar or N2) for the complete stunning of the rabbit. To observe the changing of color attributes, a research study was conducted in the abattoir of the National Institute of Animal Science (NIAS), RDA, Republic of Korea. This experiment had 2 parts, (i) A trial on heme-pigment solutions (hemoglobin and myoglobin solution) was conducted in a gas chamber with different high-concentration levels of carbon dioxide, argon, nitrogen, and normal air; and (ii) a rabbit experiment was conducted—stunning with different high-concentration levels of carbon dioxide, argon, nitrogen, and the Halal method (non-stunning).
