We aimed to evaluate the impact of short-term tinnitus treatment on cognitive function and identify the effects of various treatment combinations on cognitive and tinnitus outcomes. A non-randomized prospective study was conducted with 32 tinnitus patients at a tertiary university hospital between May 2022 and May 2024. Patients received treatments, including neuromodulation, diuretics, gabapentin, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI), anxiolytics, muscle relaxants, hearing aids, and counseling.

Resetting in redirected walking (RDW) allows users to maintain a continuous, collision-free walking experience in virtual reality (VR), even in a limited physical space. Since frequent resets reduce the user's sense of immersion, extensive research has been conducted to develop resetters that provide optimal reset directions. Various visual reset user interfaces (UIs) have been proposed to help users perform the correct reset direction according to the improved resetter, but their effectiveness has not been sufficiently verified.

Phage specificity primarily relies on host cell-surface receptors. However, integrating cas genes and guide RNAs into phage genomes could enhance their target specificity and regulatory effects. In this study, we developed a CRISPR-Cas12f1 system-equipped bacteriophage λ model capable of detecting Escherichia coli target genes.

This study investigated anatomical and procedural factors influencing iliac limb migration and its correlation with late type 1b and type 3 endoleaks. We analyzed data of 141 iliac limbs from 91 patients who underwent endovascular aneurysm repair for infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm between 2005 and 2017. Iliac limb migration was measured using initial and follow-up computed tomography angiography scans conducted at least three years post-procedure, with significant migration defined as a change of ≥ 5 mm.

Background/aim: Log data from radiation treatment machines can play a crucial role in quality assurance by enabling the recalculation of the delivered dose distribution and identification of deviations in treatment delivery. This article proposes a novel method for recalculating the delivered dose distribution in carbon-ion radiation therapy using log data.

Materials And Methods: The proposed approach leverages existing functionality in commercial treatment planning systems, thus eliminating the need for specialized in-house software for dose calculation and evaluation.

Background: Tinnitus is a multifactorial condition with no universally accepted assessment guidelines. The Korean Tinnitus Study Group previously established consensus statements on the definition, classification, and diagnostic tests for tinnitus. As a continuation of this effort, this study aims to establish expert consensus on tinnitus assessment and treatment outcome evaluation, specifically tailored to the Korean clinical context.

Metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) has become a pivotal technique for developing wafer-scale transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) 2D materials. This study investigates the impact of MOCVD growth conditions on achieving uniform and selective polymorph phase control of MoTe over large wafers. We demonstrated the controlled and uniform growth of few-layer MoTe in pure 2H, 1T', and mixed phases at various temperatures on up to 4 in.

Background: Predicting radiation dermatitis (RD), a common radiotherapy toxicity, is essential for clinical decision-making regarding toxicity management. This prospective study aimed to develop and validate a machine-learning model to predict the occurrence of grade ≥ 2 RD using thermal imaging in the early stages of radiotherapy in head and neck cancer.

Methods: Thermal images of neck skin surfaces were acquired weekly during radiotherapy.

Contrast-enhanced chest CT (CECT) is more sensitive than non-contrast-enhanced chest CT (NCECT), but NCECT may have comparable efficacy in detecting new primary lung cancer among stage I NSCLC survivors after two years of surveillance. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of NCECT versus CECT for surveillance among stage I NSCLC patients surviving two years after curative resection without disease recurrence. We conducted a retrospective cohort study of patients with stage I NSCLC who underwent curative-intent lung resection between January 2009 and December 2017 using the Registry for Thoracic Cancer Surgery at the Samsung Medical Center, Seoul, Korea.

Purpose: This prospective, randomized clinical trial evaluated the effects of bra-wearing during radiotherapy on breast-shape reproducibility, dosimetry, and treatment toxicities in patients with breast cancer.

Methods: Thirty-eight patients with breast cancer who underwent breast-conserving surgery were randomly assigned to bra-wearing or non-wearing groups during radiotherapy. Breast-shape reproducibility was assessed using daily cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Objective: To discern highly aggressive intratumoral areas among lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and its impact on occult nodal metastases and the recurrence rate with radiomic analysis.

Methods: This prospective dual-institution study analyzed clinical information and high-resolution preoperative CT of 528 patients from institution A and 249 patients from institution B. We extracted radiomic features and performed pathologic evaluations for resected tumors, based on the 2020 International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) classification.

Protein tyrosine kinase 7 (PTK7), a catalytically defective receptor protein tyrosine kinase, is frequently upregulated in various cancers, including triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), and is associated with poor clinical outcomes. Analysis of The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) data confirmed that PTK7 mRNA expression is significantly higher in TNBC tumor tissues compared with adjacent normal tissues and non-TNBC breast cancer subtypes. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis demonstrated a strong correlation between high PTK7 expression and worse relapse-free survival in TNBC patients (HR = 1.

Objectives: This cross-sectional study examined the relationships among caregiver burden, anxiety, and key psychological flexibility processes - cognitive fusion, experiential avoidance, and values-driven actions - in family caregivers of individuals with dementia.

Methods: Data were collected from 191 caregivers in the United States. Structural equation modeling was used to assess direct and indirect relationships among caregiver burden, anxiety, and key psychological flexibility processes.

It is crucial to manage hearing loss and its associated public health impacts. In this study, we aimed to understand the role of Sema3f in the development and maintenance of the auditory system. Inner ear-specific Sema3f knockout mice exhibited hearing loss at 8 weeks with an elevated threshold for auditory brainstem response and an absent threshold for distortion product optoacoustic emission tests.

Despite the substantial role of chest MRI for the diagnosis and follow-up of thymic cysts, information about inter-reader agreement and optimal MR sequences is still limited. We aimed to investigate the inter-reader agreement for diagnosing thymic cysts using various combinations of MR sequences and to assess the effect of the addition of CT on inter-reader agreement. A total of 76 anterior mediastinal lesions (≤ 30 mm) from two tertiary referral hospitals (55 from Institution A and 21 from Institution B) who underwent chest CT and contrast-enhanced chest MR were included.

Purpose: After surgery for lung adenocarcinoma, a patient may experience various states of recurrence, with multiple factors potentially influencing the transitions between these states. Our purpose was to investigate the effects of clinical and pathological factors on tumor recurrence, death, and prognosis across various metastasizing pathways.

Materials And Methods: Our study group included 335 patients with all demographic and pathologic data available who underwent surgical resection for lung adenocarcinoma for more than 10 years.

Multiplex immunofluorescence (MxIF) imaging is a critical tool in biomedical research, offering detailed insights into cell composition and spatial context. As an example, DAPI staining identifies cell nuclei, while CD20 staining helps segment cell membranes in MxIF. However, a persistent challenge in MxIF is saturation artifacts, which hinder single-cell level analysis in areas with over-saturated pixels.
