[Venous injuries during a ten-year follow up, including vascular injuries managed in the Bulovka Surgical Department IPVZ].

The authors analyze twenty cases of vascular reconstructions, completed upon management of 118 vascular traumas, over a 10-year period. The traumas were, predominantly, of iatrogenic origin. The following trunks were treated: v.

[Pseudo-obstruction of the colon (Ogilvie's syndrome) and its significance in the differential diagnosis of ileus of the large intestine].

The authors submit an analysis of a group comprising 33 patients who were in the course of two years (1991-1992) hospitalized as emergency cases on account of ileus of the large bowel. All patients were subjected urgently in addition to a basic clinical examination and a native X-ray of abdomen also to irrigographic examination. On its basis in three patients the diagnosis of pseudoobstruction of the large intestine-Ogilvie's syndrome was established.

[Ischemic colitis].

Based on experience with 12 patients with ischaemic colitis observed in 1968-1992 the following conclusions can be drawn: ischaemic colitis is not as rare as assumed and its rising incidence must be foreseen. The clinical picture is not typical, but when suitable diagnostic methods are used, it can be diagnosed in a large number of cases. In non-complicated cases the prospects of conservative treatment are good.

[Choledochocele diagnosed before surgery].

The authors describe the case of a 73 year old man with obstruction jaundice, who was examined before the operation by PTC with resulting diagnosis of choledochocoele connected with cholelithiasis. The preoperation diagnosis of this rare anomaly is not frequent and is due to the development of radiodiagnostic methods. A surgical solution is based either on discision or removal of the whole formation.

[The use of impedance measurements in the colon].

Biological changes in tissue also affect its biophysical and consequently its electrical properties. By the method here described, high-frequency current is caused to flow through the tissue under examination and the voltage decrease is measured. Measuring equipment of the author's own design has been developed for routine use of the method.
