All patients were subjected urgently in addition to a basic clinical examination and a native X-ray of abdomen also to irrigographic examination. On its basis in three patients the diagnosis of pseudoobstruction of the large intestine-Ogilvie's syndrome was established.

The clinical picture is not typical, but when suitable diagnostic methods are used, it can be diagnosed in a large number of cases. In non-complicated cases the prospects of conservative treatment are good.

Biological changes in tissue also affect its biophysical and consequently its electrical properties. By the method here described, high-frequency current is caused to flow through the tissue under examination and the voltage decrease is measured. Measuring equipment of the author's own design has been developed for routine use of the method.
