Real-World Experience of 3-Year Treatment With Dupilumab: Significant Decrease in Circulating Neutrophils and Eosinophils in Japanese Patients With Atopic Dermatitis.

Dupilumab, an anti-interleukin (IL)-4 receptor α-antibody, was approved in 2018 for the treatment of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (AD) in Japan. Although real-world data have accumulated on the effectiveness and safety of dupilumab in patients with AD in the short term, real-world data on its long-term use are limited. In this study, we retrospectively investigated its effectiveness, safety and laboratory data in patients with AD who received dupilumab for 3 years.

Bullous pemphigoid (BP) is an autoimmune subepidermal blistering disease with a linear deposit of autoantibodies at the epidermal basement membrane zone. It was reported that diabetes patients who took a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor (DPP4i), an oral antidiabetic drug, had an increased incidence of BP. However, data on DPP4i-related BP are limited.

Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio is associated with survival and sentinel lymph node positivity in invasive cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma: A retrospective study.

Background: The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is a known prognostic biomarker for survival and is predictive of sentinel lymph node (SLN) positivity in some cancers. However, its usefulness as a prognostic biomarker for cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) has not been fully investigated.

Objective: Our objective was to investigate the relationship between the NLR and the disease-specific survival and SLN positivity in patients with cSCC.

Unraveling the plant diversity of the Amazonian through DNA barcoding.

The of the Serra dos Carajás, in Eastern Amazon, is home to a unique open plant community, harboring several endemic and rare species. Although a complete flora survey has been recently published, scarce to no genetic information is available for most plant species of the ironstone outcrops of the Serra dos Carajás. In this scenario, DNA barcoding appears as a fast and effective approach to assess the genetic diversity of the Serra dos Carajás flora, considering the growing need for robust biodiversity conservation planning in such an area with industrial mining activities.

Continued Chemotherapy After Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy Improves Treatment Outcomes for Unresectable Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma: An Analysis of 13 Cases.

There is no standard systemic therapy for unresectable cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (ucSCC), although various chemotherapy regimens have been reported. In our department, concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) for ucSCC resulted in a 1-year survival rate similar to that of resectable cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC). Treatment involves continued chemotherapy after CCRT.

Micro Vacuum Chuck and Tensile Test System for Bio-Mechanical Evaluation of 3D Tissue Constructed of Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell-Derived Cardiomyocytes (hiPS-CM).

In this report, we propose a micro vacuum chuck (MVC) which can connect three-dimensional (3D) tissues to a tensile test system by vacuum pressure. Because the MVC fixes the 3D tissue by vacuum pressure generated on multiple vacuum holes, it is expected that the MVC can fix 3D tissue to the system easily and mitigate the damage which can happen by handling during fixing. In order to decide optimum conditions for the size of the vacuum holes and the vacuum pressure, various sized vacuum holes and vacuum pressures were applied to a normal human cardiac fibroblast 3D tissue.

Dynamics of neutrophil and C-reactive protein reflect the clinical course of pyrexia during combination therapy with dabrafenib and trametinib.

Pyrexia is the most common adverse event in patients with melanoma or other solid organ malignancies that are treated with the combination of dabrafenib and trametinib (combi-DT). Given the expanded indication for combi-DT, management of pyrexia is a high priority. No previous case series has revealed which blood markers reflect the course of pyrexia and there is no consensus on the management strategy for pyrexia.
