State of Lung Cancer in Egypt: Moving Towards Improved Guidelines for Prevention, Screening, Treatment, and Clinical Care Programs.

Lung cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related mortality globally and presents significant challenges in Egypt. In 2023, the first annual meeting of the Thoracic Oncology Multidisciplinary Faculty, organized by the Egyptian Cancer Research Network and the Egyptian Society of Respiratory Neoplasms, was held in Cairo, Egypt. The meeting aimed to address gaps in lung cancer management across Egypt and the broader Middle East and North Africa region.

Follow-up of small (4 mm or less) incidentally detected nodules by computed tomography in oncology patients: a retrospective review.

Introduction: It is often not possible to determine whether small nodules detected on computed tomography (CT) in oncology patients are metastatic. We evaluated a group of oncology patients to determine the outcome of small pulmonary nodules and whether they can be ignored in the therapeutic decision process.

Materials And Methods: Radiology reports of thoracic CTs from a 2-year period were searched for keywords indicating a small pulmonary nodule.

Reversed halo sign in invasive pulmonary fungal infections.

Computed tomography scans of documented pulmonary mold infections were reviewed for the presence of the reversed halo sign, a focus of ground-glass attenuation surrounded by a solid ring. The reversed halo sign was an early sign, seen in approximately 4% of patients with pulmonary mold infections, usually with zygomycosis.
