The present study evaluated the histological outcomes of two dental restorative materials, polyacid-modified composite resin (compomer) and conventional composite resin, in the primary molars of puppies. Twenty sound primary molars in four puppies were used. The puppies were rendered unconscious using general anesthesia.

Dental Students' Didactic and Psychomotor Skills Performance in Dental Anatomy and Preclinical Operative Dentistry Courses in a Saudi Governmental School.

Background: Knowledge and psychomotor skills are essential in dental education. The aims were to (1) investigate the correlation between dental students' didactic and psychomotor skills performance in the dental anatomy and preclinical operative dentistry courses and (2) explore the impact of gender on students' performance in both courses.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective cohort study was performed on dental students' (164 students; 72 males and 92 females) dental anatomy and preclinical operative courses scores of the same class over 2 years (2018-2020).

Etiological factors of short stature in children and adolescents: experience at a tertiary care hospital in Egypt.

Background: Accurate anthropometric measurements and critical analysis of growth data allow the clinician to promptly recognize children with short stature. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of etiological factors causing short stature among children referred to the pediatric endocrinology clinic of Assiut University Children's Hospital, the main tertiary care center in Upper Egypt.

Methods: We conducted this descriptive observational study from May 2012 to December 2015, to analyze 637 children (boys 354, girls 283) with short stature.

Randomized controlled trial of vitamin D supplementation in children with autism spectrum disorder.

Background: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a frequent developmental disorder characterized by pervasive deficits in social interaction, impairment in verbal and nonverbal communication, and stereotyped patterns of interests and activities. It has been previously reported that there is vitamin D deficiency in autistic children; however, there is a lack of randomized controlled trials of vitamin D supplementation in ASD children.

Methods: This study is a double-blinded, randomized clinical trial (RCT) that was conducted on 109 children with ASD (85 boys and 24 girls; aged 3-10 years).

Oxidative status in children and adolescents with autoimmune thyroiditis.

Oxidative status in autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT) has not been investigated previously in children and adolescents. We investigated oxidant and antioxidant systems in a cohort of Egyptian children and adolescents with AIT to explore these as biomarkers of autoimmunity and thyroid function. Our case control study included 32 children with AIT and 32 healthy subjects with matching age and sex as a control group.

Selenium and antioxidant levels decreased in blood of children with breath-holding spells.

We hypothesize that the imbalance between oxidant and antioxidant systems might be involved in the pathophysiology of breath-holding spells. The aim of this study is to evaluate the oxidant-antioxidant status in children with breath-holding spells compared to healthy children. In a case control study, 67 children with breath-holding spells were compared with 60 healthy children.

Turner syndrome: review of clinical, neuropsychiatric, and EEG status: an experience of tertiary center.

We reviewed the clinical, neuropsychiatric, and EEG status of 53 turner syndrome (TS) females, aged 3-16 years, in Assiut university hospitals, Upper Egypt. The diagnosis and care of patients with TS in Egypt is still in the developing stage. Hence this study was undertaken to review the details of patients with TS with respect to the pattern of cognitive, psychiatric, and motor dysfunction.

Clinical and neuropsychiatric status in children with Williams-Beuren Syndrome in Upper Egypt.

Unlabelled: The aim of this study was to evaluate and explore the clinical, neuropsychiatric status and EEG pattern in a series of children with Williams-Beuren syndrome (WBS) in Assiut, Upper Egypt. We aimed to provide a comprehensive data comparable to what has been published, to enable us to make comparisons across different cultural areas. This will contribute to a better definition of the neuropsychiatric features that may be specific to WBS that allows early and better detection and management of those children.

Correlation of psychomotor skills and didactic performance among dental students in Saudi Arabia.

Adaptive environment classification system for hearing aids.

An adaptive sound classification framework is proposed for hearing aid applications. The long-term goal is to develop fully trainable instruments in which both the acoustical environments encountered in daily life and the hearing aid settings preferred by the user in each environmental class could be learned.
