Primary signet-ring cell carcinoma of the prostate.

We report a rare case of primary signet-ring cell carcinoma of the prostate in an advanced stage. A 62-year-old man with serum level of prostate-specific antigen at 364.70 ng/ml was diagnosed as having cT4N1M1c prostatic signet-ring cell carcinoma of Gleason score 5 + 4 = 9.

Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis with a renocolic fistula caused by a parapelvic cyst.

Fistula formation between the upper urinary tract and bowel is an uncommon complication in urogenital diseases. We present a rare case of focal xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis with a renocolic fistula. This is the first case where a parapelvic cyst obstructs the caliceal outflow and leads to the formation of a renocolic fistula in renal inflammatory disease.

[A case of transitional cell carcinoma of the renal pelvis with adenocarcinoma producing CEA and CA19-9].

We report a case of invasive renal pelvic tumor with high serum levels of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and carbohydrate antigen (CA 19-9). An 86-year-old man presented with macrohematuria. Retrograde pyelography demonstrated a filling defect in right upper calyx, suspected of renal pelvic tumor.

Expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 and bombesin/gastrin-releasing peptide in human prostate cancers and their lymph node metastases.

Neuroendocrine differentiation and subsequent excretion of neuropeptides have been demonstrated to be associated with progression of human prostate cancer. Among neuropeptides found to exist in the prostate, bombesin/gastrin-releasing peptide has been shown to upregulate matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) in human prostate cancer cell lines. Expression levels of bombesin, MMP-9, and neuron-specific enolase were examined by immunohistochemistry in 41 cases of clinically organ-confined prostate cancers including 9 with microscopic lymph node metastases.
