Diagnostic accuracy and added value of dynamic chest radiography in detecting pulmonary embolism: A retrospective study.

Purpose: This study aimed to assess the diagnostic performance of dynamic chest radiography (DCR) and investigate its added value to chest radiography (CR) in detecting pulmonary embolism (PE).

Methods: Of 775 patients who underwent CR and DCR in our hospital between June 2020 and August 2022, individuals who also underwent contrast-enhanced CT (CECT) of the chest within 72 h were included in this study. PE or non-PE diagnosis was confirmed by CECT and the subsequent clinical course.

Artificial intelligence-assisted volume isotropic simultaneous interleaved bright- and black-blood examination for brain metastases.

Purpose: To verify the effectiveness of artificial intelligence-assisted volume isotropic simultaneous interleaved bright-/black-blood examination (AI-VISIBLE) for detecting brain metastases.

Methods: This retrospective study was approved by our institutional review board and the requirement for written informed consent was waived. Forty patients were included: 20 patients with and without brain metastases each.

[Conduct of Occupational Health During Major Disasters: A Comparison of Literature on Occupational Health Issues in the World Trade Center Terrorist Attack and the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Accident].

Workers who respond to large-scale disasters can be exposed to health hazards that do not exist in routine work. It is assumed that learning from past cases is effective for preparing for and responding to such problems, but published information is still insufficient. Accordingly, we conducted a literature review about the health issues and occupational health activities at the World Trade Center (WTC) terrorist attack and at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant accident to investigate how occupational health activities during disasters should be conducted.

[Occupational Safety and Health System for Workers Engaged in Emergency Response Operations in the USA].

Objectives: To study the occupational safety and health systems used for emergency response workers in the USA, we performed interviews with related federal agencies and conducted research on related studies.

Methods: We visited the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in the USA and performed interviews with their managers on the agencies' roles in the national emergency response system. We also obtained information prepared for our visit from the USA's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

[Development of a Tool for Training and Evaluation of the Competencies in Occupational Mental Health Necessary for Labor and Social Security Attorneys].

Labor and Social Security Attorneys (LSSAs) advise their clients about occupational mental health, but the competencies necessary in this field are not clear to them. We standardized the necessary competencies as a counseling guide for LSSAs, and we also designed a related discussion training program. These competencies were summarized in a brainstorming session at a research conference comprised of physicians, an occupational health nurse, LSSAs, an instructional design expert, and a management consultant, and then a training program (lasting 9 hours 30 minutes) was developed.

[A case of colon cancer with liver metastases and lymph node metastases successfully treated with surgery followed by CPT-11 and 5-FU chemotherapy].

A sixty-year-old woman underwent right hemicolectomy and D2 lymph node dissection. However, a solitary liver metastasis and para-aortic lymph node metastasis were detected three months after surgery. Chemotherapy using CPT-11 and 5-FU (civ) was immediately performed.
