Objective: This multicenter phase I/II study evaluated the safety and the efficacy of transjugular transhepatic peritoneovenous shunt (PVS), a new palliative treatment for malignant refractory ascites.
Subjects And Methods: Patients with refractory malignant ascites and patent hepatic veins and vena cava were included in this study. Eligible patients underwent the placement of transjugular transhepatic PVS catheter via the jugular vein into the abdominal cavity through the hepatic vein.
Purpose: This multicenter prospective study was conducted to evaluate the safety and the efficacy of uterine artery embolization (UAE) with gelatin sponge for symptomatic leiomyomas.
Materials And Methods: Patients with symptomatic uterine leiomyomas were enrolled and treated with UAE. In phase I, nine patients were evaluated for safety.
Unlabelled: The expandable metallic stent (EMS) have been used to treat obstructive colorectal cancer. We used EMS in 13 out of 14 cases of obstructive colorectal carcinoma patients (insertion rate 93%). Of these 13 cases, 6 cases were male patients, and 7 cases were female patients.

Percutaneous transhepatic central venous access with a subcutaneous infusion port was performed in a 34-year-old woman with extensive third-degree burns whose peripheral vessels were not available because of infection or dermatoplastic sites. This procedure could be done in the same way as the usual PTCD maneuver without serious complications. The infusion system functioned well, and the patient's alimentation could be carried out.
