Breast positron emission tomography (PET) has had insurance coverage when performed with conventional whole-body PET in Japan since 2013. Together with whole-body PET, accurate examination of breast cancer and diagnosis of metastatic disease are possible, and are expected to contribute significantly to its treatment planning. We present a novel report on the use of bone scintigraphy in pembrolizumab-induced inflammatory arthritis. A 70-year-old man with lung cancer complained about arthralgia after 7 courses of the pembrolizumab therapy. Tc-HMDP bone scintigraphy revealed symmetrically strong uptakes in the major distal joints of the upper and lower extremities, thereby clearly identifying them as the affected joints.

Methods: Eighteen patients underwent a total of 32 FDG-PET examinations following surgery for ovarian carcinoma from October 2001 to December 2002 at our hospital (median follow-up period, 31 months). Age of the patients at the time of the initial FDG-PET examination ranged from 31 to 73 years (mean 52 years) and the period from surgery to the initial FDG-PET examination ranged from 5 to 109 months (mean 30 months).

Additional phase III multicenter clinical study was performed to investigate the efficacy, safety, and usefulness of somatostatin receptor scintigraphy using 111In-pentetreotide (MP-1727), which binds to somatostatin receptors.
