The generalized second law (nonequilibrium maximum work formulation) is derived for a simple chaotic system. We consider a probability density, prepared in the far past, which weakly converges to an invariant density due to the mixing property. The generalized second law is then rewritten for an initial invariant density.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on creating an accurate reaction model for the bromate-sulfilte-ferrocyanide (BSF) pH oscillator using a particle filter simulation method.
  • The RKH model was improved by incorporating the protonation equilibrium of SO42-, allowing for optimization of rate constants with respect to actual pH data.
  • By redefining the objective function to include data over multiple oscillatory periods, the study validated the model's effectiveness in capturing complex chemical behaviors, marking a significant application of particle filters in chemical system analysis.
