In the field of cancer care, it is still difficult to say that advance care planning(ACP)has been fully integrated, and the perceptions of ACP vary depending on the individual's role. Since oncologists have a deeper understanding of the patient's condition and prognosis than the patients themselves, they are often the first to recognize the future need for ACP. It is important to gather and incorporate patients' preferences and relevant information regarding ACP early in the course of daily cancer treatment.

Cardiotocography (CTG) is widely used to assess fetal well-being. CTG is typically obtained using ultrasound and autocorrelation methods, which extract periodicity from the signal to calculate the heart rate. However, during labor, maternal vessel pulsations can be measured, resulting in the output of the maternal heart rate (MHR).

Extracting fetal heart signals from Doppler using semi-supervised convolutional neural networks.

Cardiotocography (CTG) measurements are critical for assessing fetal wellbeing during monitoring, and accurate assessment requires well-traceable CTG signals. The current FHR calculation algorithm, based on autocorrelation to Doppler ultrasound (DUS) signals, often results in periods of loss owing to its inability to differentiate signals. We hypothesized that classifying DUS signals by type could be a solution and proposed that an artificial intelligence (AI)-based approach could be used for classification.

[Short-Term Outcomes of Neoadjuvant Chemoradiotherapy for Locally Advanced Rectal Cancer].

In recent years, an increasing number of reports have demonstrated the usefulness of neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NACRT). In our department, we consider cT3-4 and/or cN-positive locally advanced rectal cancer as an indication for NACRT. Background: Follicular cholangitis (FC) is a benign bile duct disease that was first reported 2003. Pathologically, it is characterized by lymphoplasmacytic infiltration with multiple lymphoid follicle formations under the mucosal layer of the biliary tract. However, as this disease is extremely rare, little is known about its etiology and pathogenesis.

We discuss the counting of Nambu-Goldstone (NG) modes associated with the spontaneous breaking of higher-form global symmetries. Effective field theories of NG modes are developed based on symmetry-breaking patterns, using a generalized coset construction for higher-form symmetries. We derive a formula of the number of gapless NG modes, which involves expectation values of the commutators of conserved charges, possibly of different degrees.

Multi-institutional survey of cancer disparities in disabled patients in the region of northwestern Japan.

Background: Potential disparities between cancer patients with and without disabilities remained to be validate in Japan.

Methods: We surveyed retrospective data on hospital cancer registration as well as information on disability certificates obtained through the Hokushin Ganpro database. In total, 93,545 cancer patients in 10 principal hospitals covering the region of northwestern Japan were registered with the Hokushin Ganpro database between 2010 and 2015.

Potential of spectroscopic analyses for non-destructive estimation of tea quality-related metabolites in fresh new leaves.

Spectroscopic sensing provides physical and chemical information in a non-destructive and rapid manner. To develop non-destructive estimation methods of tea quality-related metabolites in fresh leaves, we estimated the contents of free amino acids, catechins, and caffeine in fresh tea leaves using visible to short-wave infrared hyperspectral reflectance data and machine learning algorithms. We acquired these data from approximately 200 new leaves with various status and then constructed the regression model in the combination of six spectral patterns with pre-processing and five algorithms.

Nondestructive techniques for estimating nitrogen (N) status are essential tools for optimizing N fertilization input and reducing the environmental impact of agricultural N management, especially in green tea cultivation, which is notably problematic. Previously, hyperspectral indices for chlorophyll (Chl) estimation, namely a green peak and red edge in the visible region, have been identified and used for N estimation because leaf N content closely related to Chl content in green leaves. Herein, datasets of N and Chl contents, and visible and near-infrared hyperspectral reflectance, derived from green leaves under various N nutrient conditions and albino yellow leaves were obtained.

Effects of π-conjugation on the solid-state photoresponsive coloring behavior of bipyridine-boronium complexes.

Solid-state photoinduced coloring of boronium complexes consisting of 9-borabicyclononane and 2,2'-bipyridine with π-conjugated substituents at the 4,4'- or 5,5'-positions was investigated. The substitution position affected the highest occupied molecular orbital distribution and determined the coloring capability. The 4,4'-substituted complexes exhibited coloration upon irradiation, whereas most of the 5,5'-substituted complexes did not.

In agricultural soils fertilized with a high amount of ammonium nitrogen, the pH decreases because of the oxidation of ammonia by nitrifiers. Molecular-based analyses have revealed that members of the genus dominate over other nitrifiers in some acidic soils. However, terrestrial are rarely cultivated and little is known about their ecophysiology.

In the 9th edition Japanese Classification of Colorectal Carcinoma, Stage Ⅱ and Stage Ⅲ colorectal cancer(CRC)were subdivided by TNM classification on invasion and number of lymph node metastases. We studied prognostic comparison and relation of adjuvant chemotherapy at the new classification. We included 400 cases with resected Ⅱ and Ⅲ CRC from 2007 to 2014.
